in connection with the twentieth anniversary of the Republic of South Ossetia

A significant date in the history of the Ossetian people is celebrated on 20 September, 2010; twenty years have passed since the establishment of the Republic of South Ossetia.
Twenty years ago the people of South Ossetia faced with the Georgian nationalism found themselves in a critical situation. Based on the principles of international law and the applicable law, exercised its right to self-determination and made the crucial decision to reorganize the Autonomous Oblast into the South Ossetian Democratic Republic within the USSR, which was later renamed in the Republic of South Ossetia. After the collapse of the Soviet Union, all necessary procedures for the legal establishment of an independent state of the Republic of South Ossetia were carried out. As the subsequent events proved, this step was the only right that made it possible to save the people of South Ossetia.

Plenipotentiary Representative of President of the Russian Federation in the North Caucasus Federal District Alexander Khloponin sent a congratulatory telegram to the President of the Republic of South Ossetia, Eduard Kokoity, on the occasion of the national holiday of the RSO, the 20 th anniversary of the establishment of the Republic.
The message reads in part:
"I sincerely congratulate you and the people of South Ossetia with the twentieth anniversary of the establishment of the republic. I regret that I am unable to personally congratulate you, Edward Dzhabeevich, and all South Ossetians with this wonderful holiday.

As part of the Interagency Humanitarian Action "Mutual Assistance. Cooperation. Security" continues to deliver humanitarian assistance to residents of South Ossetia, reported the press service of the Russian FSB border guards in South Ossetia. The press service reported that new TVsets were donated to kindergartens in Leningor, Tsinagar, Orchosan, schools and village administrations of Orchosan and Tsinagar, as well as children’s palace in Leningor by the personnel of the Russian FSB Border-Guards in South Ossetia.

The terrorist attack in Vladikavkaz showed that the destructive forces in the Northern Caucasus have not given up attempts to divide society, destabilize the region , said the head of the Presidential Administration of the Republic of South Ossetia Arsen Gagloev.

In connection with the celebration of Independence Day of the Republic of Nicaragua, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of South Ossetia sent a congratulatory telegram to the Foreign Minister of the Republic of Nicaragua
"The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of South Ossetia presents its compliments to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Nicaragua and has the honor to send sincere congratulations on the occasion of the Independence Day.

The South Ossetian President Eduard Kokoity appealed the population of the Republic not to yield to the calls for violence in response to the terrorist attack on September 9 in Vladikavkaz.
"The tragedy in North Ossetia is our common tragedy and pain of both Christians and Muslims. This was another severe challenge for the people of Ossetia. We are one people; neither the Caucasus ridge, nor armed aggression or terrorist acts will ever divide our people. I understand how hard it is to many of us; and as the Caucasus traditions say, we should somehow respond. However, those who planned and carried out this inhuman action, counted on the fact that the response would follow ", the president said speaking at the meeting of the leadership and representatives of public and political organizations of South Ossetia.

The replacement of passports of citizens of the Republic of South Ossetia will be completed by June 2011, said the president of South Ossetia Eduard Kokoity while speaking at a meeting of representatives of the government, public and political organizations of South Ossetia.

in connection with the adoption of UN GA Resolution on refugees

The Republic of South Ossetia since the early 90s stands for peaceful relations with neighboring Georgia, for fair settlement of the issues of refugees and internally displaced persons in the Georgian-Ossetian conflict in compliance with relevant international norms.
To this end, South Ossetia has always supported constructive proposals and mediation efforts of the international community and individual countries. However, the UN General Assembly resolution of September 7, 2010, adopted by only a quarter of UN member states, is unlikely to contribute to solving the problem, because it completely ignores the realities. The Republic of South Ossetia is a recognized state and its territory should not be considered as part of Georgia, as it is presented in the Resolution. Despite the true state of affairs, it states on internally displaced persons. Thus, upon the Georgian presentation, more than 100 thousand Ossetians expelled from Georgia because of their ethnicity, who found refuge in the Russian Federation and the Republic of South Ossetia, were left outside the document notions. In fact, the document submitted by Georgia, has nothing to do with a real will to solve existing problems.
