The South Ossetian and Abkhazian peoples have long been linked by bonds of strong friendship and true brotherhood, which have been further strengthened by the similarity of historical paths.

This was confirmed by the simultaneous decision of the Russian Federation to recognize the sovereign status and state independence of South Ossetia and Abkhazia, the leader of the RSO Alan Gagloev has noted in his congratulation to his Abkhazian colleague Badra Gunba on the Independence Recognition Day.

The Embassy of South Ossetia in Russia has issued the appeal in connection with the 17th anniversary of the recognition of the Republic's independence. The message was sent to all diplomatic missions accredited in Russia, as well as to the Georgian Interests Section at the Embassy of Switzerland.

The message has noted that on August 26, 2008, Russia, as a great power, a reliable partner and guarantor of the fulfillment of its obligations, once again confirmed its high mission to maintain peace and security in the region.

"As a result of the weigh-in, Murat Gassiev weighed 106.5 kg, while his opponent Jeremy Milion weighed 109.3 kg," the report says.

According to him, the Republic is ready to offer the so-called "investment lots" to the interested parties at the Forum - specially prepared projects developed by Ministry of Economic Development jointly with the Organizing Committee.
