On 28 February, at 15:30 in Dmenis settlement of Tskhinval district of RSO two members of MIA of South Ossetia were killed in the result of explosion. Two policemen also were conveyed to the Republic clinic with heavy wounds. The explosion device had been planted in a TV set and fired as soon as it was switched on in the room of duty service of Dmenis settlement police station.
The Minister of Internal Affairs of RSO Mikhail Mindzaev gave comments to Republican mass media regarding an act of terrorism happened today in Dmenis village administration of Tskhinval district. “After the arrival of investigation teems of RSO Ministry of Interior to the spot it was found out that in Dmenis village department happened explosion.
Moscow paid attention to free interpretation of the results of V.V. Putin and M.N. Saakashvili recent meeting expressed in late utterances of Georgian officials. Particularly they pointed to some agreement of controlling jointly the checkpoints at Abkhazian and South Ossetian border sectors i.e. at Psou and Roki Tunnel. They mention allegedly received by Georgian side assurances that Russia “will never recognize” Abkhazia and South Ossetia.
An act of terrorism has happened in the Republic of South Ossetia. As Minister of Internal Affairs of RSO Mikhail Mindzaev informed IA “Res” correspondent “approximately at 15 : 25 at RSO MIA checkpoint in Kokhat village fired an explosive device hidden in a TV set. It was left at the checkpoint by some by passers admittedly Georgians by nationality. There are casualties in the result of explosion. Their number is not exact”. Kokhat village is one of the most distant Ossetian villages of Tskhinval district of RSO.
“Establishment of Russian-Georgian customs checkpoints at the Russian-South-Ossetian border is nonsense”-said the Head of the Republic of North Ossetia-Alania Taimuraz Mamsurov. Commenting to IA “Res” correspondent the information of ostensibly reached by Russia and Georgia agreement of joint control over Rok Tunnel Taimuraz Mamsurov called provocative the claims of Georgian side.
“Spreading by Georgia information of the treatment agreed with Russia on joint control over the South Ossetia and Russia border is an informational provocation”-stated the President of the Republic of South Ossetia Eduard Kokoity. “These rumors can not be explained in other way.
In the aftermaths of CIS summit held in Moscow the Georgian side is intensively spreading statements of achieving agreement with the government of Russian Federation pertaining to fulfillment of joint Russian-Georgian boundary and custom control at Russian-South-Ossetian and Russian-Abkhazian sectors of state border. This was particularly disclosed by the President Saakashvili on 26 February at the meeting with the participants and veterans of Georgian aggression against South Ossetian and Abkhazian people.
A round table on the topic of “Kosovo’s precedent and recognition of South Ossetia’s independence” was held in Tskhinval by the initiative of the Ministry of Youth Affairs. This was disclosed to IA “Res” correspondent by the Head of Information and Analytic department of the Ministry of Youth Affairs of RSO Alla Gagieva.
The Secretary of Security Council of the Republic of South Ossetia Anatoly Barankevich called totally ludicrous the claims of Georgian side of ostensibly achieved by Russia and Georgia agreement of establishment of joint Russian-Georgian customs checkpoints at the Russian-South-Ossetian and Russian-Abkhazian borders.
The activity of 18 illegal Georgian Internal Ministry posts serves as a permanent source of destabilization within the Georgian-Ossetian conflict zone. This number is changing subject to the ongoing situation and during the aggravation of tension the number of posts and personnel is considerably increasing. It is necessary to note that establishment of posts within the conflict zone, both peacekeeping and law-enforcement should be agreed at the JCC meetings.
