The delegation of the International Congress "Ethnogenesis and Ethnic History of the Ossetians", which arrived in Tskhinval on a friendly visit, has toured over the capital of South Ossetia. The guests were accompanied by members of the South Ossetian government, led by the head of the Presidential Administration Boris Chochiev.
The members of the delegation laid wreaths at the monument to the great Ossetian linguist Vasily Abaev and at the Memorial to the fallen defenders of the Fatherland in the courtyard of the Tskhinvali School № 5, visited the peacekeepers' camp on the northern outskirts of Tskhinval.
The guests have also reviewed the progress of reconstruction process of the Jewish quarter, as well as the parliament building, which was burnt down the first night of the war in August 2008.
In the Oak Grove in Tskhinval for the participants of the congress was organized an exhibition of the paintings by the Ossetian artists. At the exhibition the guests were joined by President Leonid Tibilov.
Here the guests were shown the peculiarities of cooking the Ossetian national dishes.
It should be noted that some of the members of the delegation have earlier visited South Ossetia.
"I arrived in Tskhinval five years ago, after the war in August 2008. And today I am very happy that a lot has been restored in the Republic and this process is ongoing, "- said the French participant of the congress Jean Perrin.
In turn, Professor Joel Grisvard told reporters about his work on the parallels in the Nart epos and legends of King Arthur.
"In addition to the ambiguous value, the Congress is very important for, because until this moment I have been living in my legends, fairy tales - said Grisvard. - I do know much about the epic, but for me it was remote from the real life and this Congress, this trip allowed me to connect this fantastic world to the really existing one, to understand the history and learn more about Ossetia, its people. "
Then the guests were presented the concert program with participation of the national creative groups of South Ossetia.
It should be noted that this week in Vladikavkaz was held an International Scientific Congress "Ethnogenesis and Ethnic History of the Ossetians," which was attended by 130 participants, among them the well-known scientists from France, Hungary, Moscow, Stavropol, Nalchik Rostov-on-Don and South Ossetia.
