Election of the President of South Ossetia - 2022
The campaign for holding a referendum on the accession of the Republic of South Ossetia to the Russian Federation began in Tskhinval. In addition to the campaign materials of presidential candidates, new billboards have appeared on the central streets: "For Ossetia! For Russia! For unification!", flags of South Ossetia and Russia are hung.
On March 30, President of the Republic, who also put forward his candidacy for the upcoming April 10 elections for the post of head of state, Anatoly Bibilov, said that the country would take legal steps to become part of the Russian Federation in the near future.
On April 6, the CEC registered action group to hold a referendum on the Republic's entry into Russia, which included 26 public and political figures. The action group started collecting signatures in support of the referendum.
