President of South Ossetia Anatoly Bibilov has received a delegation from the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, which arrived in the Republic as international observers for the presidential election.

The delegation has included Leonel Enrique Parica Hernandez, Deputy Head of the National Electoral Council of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, and Jose Leonardo González Saavedra, Advisor to the Office of the Chairman of the National Electoral Council of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela.

Greeting the guests, Anatoly Bibilov thanked them for their visit to the Republic and conveyed his best wishes to Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro.

“I always recall my visit to Venezuela with pleasure. And it is also very important for us that Venezuela, along with the Russian Federation and other states, has recognized the independence of South Ossetia. This is a very big political support for our people,” he said, according to the presidential press service.

For his part, Leonel Enrique Parica Hernandez thanked the President for the warm welcome. He has noted that during their stay in the Republic, the Venezuelan delegation managed to get acquainted with the culture and history of Ossetia, visited the National Museum of South Ossetia and the South Ossetian State University.

“Comandante Hugo Chavez had no doubts about recognizing the independence of South Ossetia. And the incumbent President Nicolas Maduro continues this line of recognition. We are here to support you as a fraternal people, so that tomorrow we can witness the democratic step that the people of South Ossetia will take. On behalf of our country, you can count on our support,” he has assured.

Anatoly Bibilov wished the people of Venezuela a peaceful sky.

“The heroic people who are defending their interests cannot but arouse deep respect,” the President has stressed.

At the end of the meeting, the parties exchanged souvenirs.
