Citizens of South Ossetia are facing a difficult choice, as two worthy candidates entered the second round of the presidential elections - the incumbent head of the Republic, Anatoly Bibilov, and the leader of the Nykhas political party, Alan Gagloev.

This opinion was expressed on Monday by the first Deputy Chairman of the State Duma Committee on CIS Affairs, Eurasian Integration and Relations with Compatriots Viktor Vodolatsky.

"The candidates who made it to the second round, in their program speeches, were speaking about reunification with Russia, about the future of the Republic only together with the Russian Federation, so the citizens in the second round will face a difficult choice, since both candidates are worthy, the people themselves will decide who will lead the South Ossetia further," he said.

Vodolatsky has noted that the elections were held without violations and there was order at all polling stations.

On April 10, the first round of presidential elections took place in South Ossetia, which were recognized as successful. The turnout was 82.07%. The incumbent head of state Anatoly Bibilov and the leader of the Nykhas political party Alan Gagloev advanced to the second round.

Two candidates who received the largest number of votes in the first round participate in the second round. The winner is determined by a simple majority of votes. To recognize the second round of elections successful, more than 30% of the voters included in the electoral lists must take part in the voting. The ballot papers provide the opportunity to vote against all the candidates.
