President of South Ossetia Anatoly Bibilov has met with a delegation of the Public Chamber of the Russian Federation, which arrived in the Republic as international observers for the presidential elections on May 8, the press service of the head of state reports.

The meeting was also attended by the Chairman of the Public Chamber of the Republic of South Ossetia Sergey Kudziev.

Anatoly Bibilov has noted that the election of the President of the Republic of South Ossetia is an important political event for the people and the future of the state.

“Thank you so much for showing interest in the political events taking place in South Ossetia. One cannot but rejoice at the close interaction between the public chambers of South Ossetia and the Russian Federation. Of course, this gives certain confidence in further integration processes between South Ossetia and Russia. And of course, the rapprochement of the positions indicated in the international treaties that South Ossetia has with the Russian Federation,” he said.

Speaking about the upcoming presidential elections, Anatoly Bibilov has noted that during the first round of elections, the CEC did not receive a single complaint.

“I'm sure everything will be held smoothly. Elections are nowhere more democratic than in South Ossetia. Elections in South Ossetia cannot be undemocratic and dishonest. This is an axiom. I think everything will be within the framework of the law and within the framework of the norms in force in the Republic of South Ossetia,” he said.

In turn, Vladimir Lagkuev also noted the fruitful cooperation with the Public Chamber of the Republic of South Ossetia, and also spoke about his observations during the first round of elections.

“There is order. No violations have been revealed. There are even some innovations compared to the big democracies,” he said.

Yevgeny Zabrodin has added that the integration processes between South Ossetia and Russia should develop more intensively. At the same time, he has noted the positive changes that have taken place in the Republic in recent years.

“We are seeing positive developments. I was here for the first time in October 2008 as a journalist. Now progress is evident, the city has changed. The processes are underway. It is very important, based on the foreign policy situation in the country and in the world, that the presidential elections in the Republic of South Ossetia be held cleanly, honestly, openly, and that democratic procedures be observed. One of the main achievements is that there were no violations in the first round,” he said.
