President of South Ossetia Alan Gagloev has received the delegation of the Donetsk People's Republic, which arrived in Tskhinval to celebrate Republic Day, the press service of the head of state reports.
As part of the delegation, Deputy Foreign Minister Natalya Mikhailova, Deputy of the People's Council Vasily Pertsev, representative of the head of the DPR in the People's Council Alexei Sukhinin arrived in South Ossetia.
Alan Gagloev thanked the guests for their visit to South Ossetia.
“I am grateful to you that in such a difficult period, you found the time and opportunity to come. We appreciate the relations that have developed between our republics, and we will develop them in every possible way,” he said.
The head of state has noted that Ossetian fighters are fighting side by side for peace in the Donbas.
“Our fighters could not leave their brothers from Donetsk and Luhansk and are fighting for peace and justice, for history and for a brighter future.
At the same time, I am sure that the special military operation in Ukraine will soon come to the end and we will celebrate the victory together with you,” the President said.
Alan Gagloev has also noted that people of South Ossetia have gone through a difficult path to their independence and now live under a peaceful sky, creating and looking forward to a brighter future.
“The path that South Ossetia has chosen is the only correct one, just like the path of the Donetsk and Luhansk People's Republics. I want to assure you that when hostilities end, South Ossetia will continue to support the peoples of the Donbass and Luhansk region as much as possible,” he has added.
In turn, Natalya Mikhailova thanked the head of the South Ossetian state for the kind words and reception.
“Our leaders say: “Republic of South Ossetia is a fraternal state.” It was South Ossetia that was the first to recognize the independence of the Donetsk and Luhansk People's Republics. While others were thinking and weighing all the risks of recognition, you did it by supporting our path to independence,” she said.
At the same time, she expressed great gratitude to the Ossetian fighters who are fighting for peace in the Donbass.
“Your fighters always support ours. They are always with us, fighting side by side against injustice, for the preservation of our history and our future. We have developed not just a relationship, but a connection for centuries," she said.
Natalya Mikhailova expressed hope that in the future, when peace reigns in Donbass, the republics will be actively cooperating in various fields, adding that South Ossetia and Donetsk have a lot of points of contact.
