Throughout its history, the armed forces of South Ossetia have been willingly and courageously defending the Fatherland and stood guard over peace in their native land. This was stated by President Alan Gagloev, speaking at the ceremonial public meeting in honor of Defender of the Fatherland Day and the 32nd anniversary of the formation of the Defense Ministry of the Republic.
A solemn meeting dedicated to Defender of the Fatherland Day and Formation Day of the Defense Ministry of the Republic of South Ossetia is being held in Tskhinval on Thursday. The event is attended by the leadership of the Republic, the staff of the ministries and departments, and representatives of the public.
The head of state has reminded that people of South Ossetia more than once had to go through the most difficult trials and take up arms in order to protect their homeland from the attacks of enemies.
“And we all know that today’s peaceful day in the country and the reliable future of our people would be impossible without the willingness and ability to defend the Motherland,” the President has noted.
He has assured that the leadership of the Republic will continue and increase efforts to improve the Armed Forces, their equipment and training “in accordance with the realities of the time, relying on real combat experience gained on the front line.”
“We will be strengthening our defense, paying serious attention to military cooperation with our strategic ally, the Russian Federation. At the same time, we will be increasing our efforts to ensure lasting and reliable peace and stability, we will be seeking by all possible means firm guarantees of security, without which progressive development is unthinkable,” Gagloev said.
The leader of the Republic has emphasized that the people believe in the defenders of the Fatherland, believe in their courage and devotion to duty.
“The people and the Armed Forces have always been united! This indestructible unity is the guarantee of our victory,” he has concluded.
