The Central Election Committee of South Ossetia has completed registration of candidates for the Presidency. As reported by the Central Election Committee to IA "RES", 17 citizens of the RSO will contest the presidency. «In total 30 initiative groups have addressed to the Central Election Committee. Thirteen of them have been refused registration, and 17 nominees will participate in the elections», - has been noted at the Central Election Committee. Besides, in day of voting 86 polling stations will be opened.

Today, on October, 19, the youth government of South Ossetia has organized a protest action «Awards - to heroes! A shame medal -to Saakashvili! ». Participants of the action have opposed to awarding the President of Georgia Michail Saakashvili the Legion of Honour.

For today the passport and visa service of the RSO Interior Ministry has issued 2927 passports of the latest pattern. According to the information of the Minister for Internal Affairs of the RSO Valery Valiev at the parliament session, at present, the Ministry of Internal Affairs of South Ossetia has received five thousand passports of the latest pattern, and since May, 20 more than half of them have already been issued.

A citizen of Georgia is detained for illegal crossing of the frontier of South Ossetia. As informed by the KGB of the RSO press-service to the IA"RES", yesterday, on October, 18, the citizen of Georgia was detained by the Russian boundary control group near the settlement Gvirgvina in Znaurskiy District of the republic. «The arrested person is transferred to the KGB of the RSO frontier service. At present, the investigation on establishing the facts of crossing the state border is being carried on.

The delegation of South Ossetia, led by the President Eduard Kokoity, will take part in the festival «Days of the Ossetian culture in Sochi», which will be held from October, 21 till October, 28. As informed by the Ministry of Culture of the RSO to the news agency "RES", the South Ossetian State Song and Dance Ensemble "Simd", the singers: Vano Bekoev, Soslan Khasiev, Valery Bugulov- will also take part in the festival «Days of the Ossetian culture in Sochi"; the works of the South Ossetian artists, including the pictures of an outstanding Ossetian painter Makharbeg Tuganov», will be presented at the festival, too.

The film festival for teenagers and youth, which traditionally has been taking place in Moscow, will be held in Tskhinval this year. As informed by the press-service of the president and the government of the RSO to the news agency "RES", today the President of South Ossetia Eduard Kokoity has conducted the working meeting concerning the film festival organization. The head of the state has called the responsible authorities to assume all the measures this festival to be arranged at the highest level.

The youth government of South Ossetia is intending to carry on a protest action against awarding the President of Georgia Michail Saakashvili the state award of France – the Legion of Honour. It was declared by the Chairman of the youth government Michael Bestaev at the meeting with the President of the RSO on October, 17.

Representatives of the Coordination Council of the Ossetian People`s Front «Russia - Ossetia» have been chosen into the Political Bureau and the International Committee of the international movement «International Russia». The press-service of the Ossetian People`s Front has informed IA RES about this. «During the congress of the international initiative «International Russia», held on October, 15, one of the initiators of establishment of the Ossetian People`s Front «Russia - Ossetia», the Chairman of the RSO People`s Party Kazimir Pliev was selected into the Political bureau IR», - has been informed at the Front press-service.

The sportsmen-dominos players from Tskhinval have gone to Abkhazia for participation in the forthcoming Eighth World team individual championship on dominos. As informed by the trainer of the South-Ossetian team Mirian Dzhioev to the IA RES, «our team has included Harry Valiev, George Bagaev, Igor Guchmazov and Tamerlan Kabulov. The tournament will be conducted from October, 17 to October, 21st, 2011 in Sukhum, but we are going to depart earlier in order to conduct some joint lessons with the Abkhazian sportsmen, who have a wide experience, - Dzhioev has told.

Today the Central Election Committee of South Ossetia has registered the Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs of the RSO Alan Pliev, Eduard Gabaraev (artillery commander of the Ministry of Defence of the RSO), Igor Alborov (the Deputy Minister of Defence of the RSO) and Inal Bazzaev (the deputy of the Parliament of the RSO) as the presidential candidates.
