EU Monitoring Mission in Georgia welcomed the level of cooperation shown by all parties after the September 29 incident occurred near the village of Karzman, (Dzausky district of South Ossetia) and the subsequent detention of the Georgian policeman. It is noted in the statement, that the extradition of the detained police officer (October 1) by the Russian border guards to the Georgian side "led to the rapid resolution of the situation."
