Statement of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of South Ossetia in connection with the fourth anniversary of the armed aggression of Georgia against South Ossetia

Tonight, August 7 at 22:00 in the Republic of South Ossetia will begin commemorative events on the fourth anniversary of the armed aggression of Georgia against South Ossetia with the action "Exhibition of the Shot Paintings," which will be held at the Theater Square in the center of Tskhinval.

Today South Ossetia is commemorating the fourth anniversary of one of the most tragic pages in the history of the Ossetian people - the beginning of the Georgian aggression in August 2008.

War of August 2008 claimed hundreds of innocent lives, cutting them off at the very beginning. Hundreds crashed fates, orphaned, destitute, widows who have lost the meaning of life because of the political views of the Georgian authorities. These are the results of the five-day war in August 2008.

The fourth anniversary of the Georgian aggression in South Ossetia will be honored withcommemorative events.
As reported IA "Res" by the State Councilor of President of South Ossetia on state and international protocol Janna Zasseeva, the events will begin August 7 at 22:00 with the action "Exhibition of the shot paintings," which will be held at the Theater Square in the center of Tskhinval.

South Ossetia, has been following the events taking place in Syria. The confrontation in this country, the tension has caused great concern for the fate of people affected by the conflict. People of South Ossetia are feeling special anxiety for the Ossetians, living in Syria, who have become the hostages of the conflict.

In the Committee of the fallen and missing citizens of South Ossetia "Memory" will be honored memory of those killed during the war in August 2008.

The leadership of the Ossetian diaspora in Syria hasaddressed a request to the Head of the Republic of North Ossetia - Alania Taimuraz Mamsurov for assistance in deciding the issue of returning the Ossetians, living in Syria, to Ossetia, to the land of their ancestors. South Ossetia should not stand aside, too.
