In Tskhinval has been convened a grand meeting, dedicated to the Day of Defender of the Fatherland and to the 20th anniversary of the Armed Forces of the Republic of South Ossetia. The festive event was attended by President of the Republic Leonid Tibilov, government representatives, Ambassador to the Republic of South Ossetia Dmitry Medoev, Russian Ambassador to South Ossetia Elbrus Kargiev; many guests arrived in the Republic for celebrating February 23.

The mourning ceremony of laying wreaths and flowers at the place of death and at the graves of the fallen defenders of South Ossetia was held in Tskhinval. The ceremony was attended by President of the Republic Leonid Tibilov, government officials, members of Parliament, a delegation of visitors from Russia and Abkhazia.

The South Ossetian State Song and Dance Group "Simd" has been concertizing in the fraternal Republic of Nicaragua with great triumph. As IA "Res" was reported from Nicaragua, today had been given a concert in Matagalpa.

The South Ossetian party called on the Georgian participants of the MPRI meeting to give the residents of the villages bordering on South Ossetia the guidance on prohibition of crossing the state border.

February 21 Minister of Foreign Affairs of South Ossetia David Sanakoev met in Moscow with the State Secretary - Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Russia Grigory Karasin. As IA "Res" has been informed at the Foreign Ministry of the Republic,during the working meeting were discussed topical issues of the Russian-South Ossetian relations.

Parliament of South Ossetia is concerned about the visit of representatives of the "expert community of Georgia" to the Republic of North Ossetia - Alania. This is stated in a statement of the Presidium of the Parliament of the Republic.
"We believe that under the Law of Georgia "On the occupied territories" the current event is a part of the program "Involvement through Cooperation" to implement the goals and objectives, approved by the Georgian Parliament, aimed at "reintegration" of South Ossetia into the Georgian state" – is said in the statement.

Today at the central square of Tskhinval has been held a solemn ceremony to hand over the Banner of the Armed Forces of the Republic of South Ossetia to the Ministry of Defence of the Republic. The ceremony was attended by the President of South Ossetia Leonid Tibilov, supreme commanders and the staff of the South Ossetian Defense Ministry, members of the government and the Parliament, guests and residents of the Republic.
The ceremony began with trooping the Colour of the Armed Forces to the area where the president presented it to the Defense Minister Valery Yakhnovets.

March 1, South Ossetian media center "Ir" will be three years. This, of course, is a small period of activities, but it showed that the work of the center was necessary and interesting to the public. Media center "Ir" – is a non-governmental organization, the discussion forum, first of all, the channel of social and political communication. As IA "Res" has been reported by the President of Media center Irina Gagloeva, certain issues and problems that concern the South Ossetian society are usually brought for a public debate.
" Time has proved that it is more effective when it is done by non-governmental organizations. Our Republic has a lot of problems. And, of course, we can`t discuss all of them, so the priority for us is the development of our statehood, "- said Gagloeva.

February 22, in the Georgian village of Ergneti, bordering on South Ossetia, will be held the 31 meeting in the format of Mechanisms on Prevention and Reaction to Incidents (MPRI).

The visit of the Georgian experts delegation to Vladikavkaz – is a new stage of the so-called
"Involvement without recognition" and the North Caucasus policy of Georgia initially doomed to failure. This has been said by the Chief of the Caucasus Studies of the Russian Institute of Strategic Research Jana Amelina in an interview to IA "Res", commenting on the meetings of representatives of the Georgian non-governmental organizations with the North Ossetian students and social activists being held in Vladikavkaz.
