On September 20, 2016, the Treaty of Friendship, Cooperation and Partnership was signed between the Republic of South Ossetia and the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic.

A military parade in honor of the Republic Day celebration took place on the Theater Square of the capital of South Ossetia on Tuesday.
The ceremony was attended by President of South Ossetia Alan Gagloev, Prime Minister Konstantin Dzhussoev, Chairman of the Parliament Alan Alborov, ex-President of South Ossetia Leonid Tibilov, Advisor Envoy of the Russian Embassy in South Ossetia Alexander Zhurov, members of the government of the Republic.
