SITUATION IN SOUTH OSSETIA REMAINS DISTURBING

Tonight near the Russian peacekeeping check point “Spider” on a mine fixed from the Georgian village Achabeti exploded a soldier from the Russian peacekeeping battalion. As was informed the correspondent of “Res” agency t Tskhinval hospital, the soldier’s condition is bad and an operation is going on.

AN ARMY MINE WAS USED FOR THE TERRORIST ACT

As a result of the terrorist act that took place this morning in Tskhinval were killed two people and injured four peaceful residents. The correspondent of the “Res” agency approached Mikhail Mindzaev, Minister of Interior of the RSO, to comment the incident.

A TELEGRAM OF CONDOLENCES

Boris Chochiev, First Deputy Chairman of the Government of RSO, JCC Co-Chairman for the South-Ossetian side received a telegram of condolences from Roy Riv, the OSCE Ambassador in Georgia. The telegram says:

TWO TEENAGERS KILLED IN THE EXPLOSION

The device that exploded this morning was similar to the device that exploded at the entrance to the garage of the Security Council Secretary Oleg Alborov. This was announced by Anatoly Barankevich, Minister of Defense of the Republic of South Ossetia.

COMMENTS TO THE FSB RUSSIA ANNOUNCEMENT

The FSB Russia center on social ties informed that according to the information that was received on 12th July via telephone, in the zone of the Georgian-Ossetian conflict is being prepared a large-scale provocation, during which it is planned to kill few tens of peaceful residents of Georgian ethnicity and accuse in the murder the Russian peace keepers.

GEORGIAN POLICE TRIED TO BAR MOVEMENT OF A GROUP OF RUSSIAN JOURNALISTS

Today near village Avnevi during shooting a programme on the 14th anniversary since the introduction of the joint peace keeping forces into the Georgian-Ossetian conflict zone, the Georgian police tried to block movement of the a group of Russian journalists that were escorted by Russian peace keeping battalion.

COMMENTS

On 11 July the officers of the Ministry of Interior of the Republic of South Ossetia stopped a vehicle that belonged to the OSCE Mission in Tskhinval. Further to that the acting chairman of the OSCE Karel De Gyukht demanded an explanation from the leadership of South Ossetia.
