Givi Tedeev: "Our Commission cannot physically cover all vulnerables with humanitarian aid"

A press-conference organized by RES agency was held in Tskhinval. Deputy Health and Social Development Minister, Chairman of Humanitarian Commission Givi Tedeev responded to journalists" questions.
"Our work has practically started on 17 December 2008. Upon the President"s decree, I was appointed as Chairman of Humanitarian Commission. Therefore, I cannot speak about the work done before December", warned Tedeev while opening the press-conference. He expressed his regret that "the population is still not informed about the work of the Humanitarian Commission".

Parliament Sitting

18th sitting of the forth session of RSO Parliament was held in Tskhinval. The sitting was presided by Deputy Speaker Yuri Dzitsoiti. The sitting was also attended by Head of President’s Administration Alexander Bolshakov and Head of State and Legal Governance Department Taimuraz Gabpaev.

Eredvi Tragedy. 18 years later: “We remember it, for it is impossible to forget it…”

The Republic of South Ossetia is commemorating the victims of Eredvi tragedy. On 18 March 1991, in the vicinity of Eferdvi village, Georgian Georgian militants set down 25 Ossetians from a “URAL” truck belonging to Internal troops of Interior Ministry of USSR. Women and children were severely beaten but released. Brutally beaten 12 men were taken from one Georgian gangs’ “quarters” to another for tortures.

The cases of detained Georgians will be brought before the court

The law enforcement bodies of the Republic of South Ossetia continue investigation in regard to two Georgians Demuri Chikhladze and David Kapanapze detained on the territory of RSO on 27 February. As reported by Investigation department of RSO Ministry of Interior, “on 28 February, a criminal case had been commenced against Kapanadze and Chikhladze according to Art.22, Part 2 of RF Criminal Code (illegal acquisition, traffic, storage, transportation of explosives devises, by a group of people).

Georgia continues blocking full supply of natural gas to Tskhinval

The supply of gas to the capital city of RSO is still at minimum level, said Director of ENERGETIKA Alan Gabaraev. According to him, the pressure in Agara-Tskhinval pipeline has been at 0.5 atmospheres for the last week.
"This amount is hardly enough for 20% of Tskhinval consumption and some parts of the city already lack gas for simple household purposes. It is certainly unrealistic to heat houses.

Finance Ministry of the Russian Federation signed an agreement on allocation of 2,8 bil. RUR aid for South Ossetia

The Ministries of Finance of the Russian Federation, South Ossetia and Abkhazia signed ininter-agency agreements on allocation of financial aid by Russia for South Ossetia equal to 2,8 bil. RUR and 2,36 bil. RUR for Abkhazia.
For the Russian side, the documents were signed by the Deputy finance Minister Anton Siluanov, for the South Ossetian side – Deputy Chairman of the Government, Finance Minister Inal Pukhaev, for the Abkhaz side – Vice Prime-Minister Beslan Kubrava.

Eduard Kokoity: "The number of complaints about humanitarian aid distribution among the population significantly decreased"

A session of Humanitarian Commission presided by President Eduard Kokoity was held. At the session, an evaluation to the Commission"s work has been given. "Today I would like to receive the whole amount of information concerning received and distributed humanitarian assistance. In general, I agreed with the information received from the Committee for State Security (KGB). Since late January, a well-maintained system in the process of aid distribution was established, the number of complaints about humanitarian aid distribution among the population significantly decreased", said the President.

President of RSO met with the Chairperson of PACE Commission

The RSO President Eduard Kokoity received the delegation of PACE headed by Chairperson of Migration and refugee Commission Corien Jonker paing an introductory visit to South Ossetia. In his welcome speech, Eduar Kokoity stressed that "South Ossetia remains and open state and is ready to build up normal, transparent relations with the rest of the world and first of all with Russia and Europe."

Gas supply for Tskhinval fell down to 20%

The Georgian side is still not providing in full natural gas for the capital city of South Ossetia, reports the Director General of ENERGETIKA company Alan Gabaraev. According to him, the pressure in the main pipeline is 0,5 atmospheres, which allows providing only 20 % of city consumption. "This amount is not enough for full consumption. Event the pert of the city which has been reconnected to gas, cannot use gas for heating, even cooking is a problem.

Boris Chochiev: “The Georgian side had turned off the valve, thinking that one day of normal gas pressure is enough to show the so-called “good will of Georgia”

The Georgian side is used to politicizing humanitarian issues, namely the gas supply for South Ossetia, while it is presenting the situation to the international community as a technical problem”, stated the post Conflict Settlement minister Boris Chochiev commenting on problems related to gas supply through the territory of Georgia.
