Dmitry Medoev: «South Ossetian people uniquely determined their future at two referendums»

International community as well as Russia can not be indifferent to the processes over South Ossetia, stated plenipotentiary representative of the Republic of South Ossetia to Russia Dmitry Medoev. He noted that «eighteen year independent existence of the Republic of South Ossetia and other self-determined States could not be missed by the international community. It is nonsense. The Republic of South Ossetia succeeded as an independent democratic state with all the fasces.

Eduard Kokoity: «We must restore historical justice and unite Ossetian people who wish to be just with Russia»

The President of the Republic of South Ossetia Eduard Kokoity received guests who arrived to the «Edinstvo» party jubilee from Russia, RNO-Alania, including the deputies from Russian Federation State Duma «Edinaya Rossia» group, representatives of «Edinaya Rossia» from the North Caucasus republics and the Moscow city Duma as well as the Cossacks from the Great Don Army headed by the Ataman, Cossack general Victor Vodolatsky.

Georgian side removed blockade of Ossetian villages

On 6 April 2008 the Georgian side removed a total blockade of the Ossetian villages of Leningor, Znaur and Tskhinval districts of the Republic of South Ossetia. The Georgian government took this decision in the consequence of international community’s pressure, first of all OSCE and the International Community of Red Cross. JCC South Ossetian part co-chairman Boris Chochiev has actively interacted all these days with the Head of OSCE Mission to Georgia Terhi Hakkala and her deputy Veselin Nikolaev as well as the Head of ICRC delegation to Georgia Dominic Liengme and the other representatives of international political and humanitarian organizations, who has condemned barbarian, middle-aged methods of military and police blockades of the peaceful villages.

In connection with deterioration of situation over South Ossetia, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of RSO M. K. Djioev directed letters to EC Secretary General Terry Davis, OSCE Chairman-in-Office Ilkka Kanerva, Permanent Representative of Russian Federation in UN Vitaly Churkin, Russian Federation Representative in NATO Dmitry Rogozin. Here attached the letter directed to EC Secretary General T. Davis

«Your Excellency,
Presenting my high confidence to You, I consider it strongly essential to draw Your attention again to serious exacerbation of the relations between Georgia and the Republic of South Ossetia since 1989 having been in the state of unregulated conflict, to the continuing escalation of tension in the region having come to the breaking point and to nascent menace of military actions.

The cases of explosions in Djava region and at South Ossetian passport and visa service have already been disclosed. All the executors of these terrorist acts detained and confessed in the crime. Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe

The OSCE Chairman-in-Office, Finnish Foreign Minister Ilkka Kanerva, expressed his serious concern today over a series of bomb explosions in recent days in the zone of the Georgian-Ossetian conflict. Since 28 February, three separate bomb incidents have killed three people and seriously wounded at least five others, including one peacekeeper from the North Ossetian Battalion of the Joint Peacekeeping Forces.

Mortar fire in RSO Znaur district

Today morning Ossetian checkpoint located in RSO Znaur district Okona village was bombarded from Georgian side. The fire was delivered with heavy mortars within 40 minutes by Georgian Defense Ministry special detachment which arrived there half an hour earlier.

Appeal of youth organizations of the Republic of South Ossetia to the European Parliament

On 27 March 2008 a vehicle explosion occurred in Tskhinval. As a result of the incident Alana Tedeeva, our friend, a member of the “Union of Patriotic Youth of the Republic of South Ossetia”,died. She was only 25. At the age of 18 she became a citizen of the Russian Federation. Law-enforcement agencies of South Ossetia believe that she died due to a terrorist act.
