In 1988, started the first visits of emissaries of the nationalist and separatist movement of Georgia to Tskhinval They advocated the separation of the Georgian SSR from the USSR and the construction of a sovereign Georgian state. Since then, during the years of the Georgian-Ossetian conflict and its settlement until 2008 the backbone of the Georgian propaganda was the mantra: "Russia -the unreliable ally and will betray South Ossetia at a critical moment."
However, life itself, and in August 2008, and long before it, showed the loyalty of Russia (unlike the Gorbachev's USSR) to its allied obligations and the historical liberation mission of Russia, the Russian army
. What can be said about the West in this regard?
We see how the West at all levels with contempt betrayed Mikheil Saakashvili. Mikheil Saakashvili – just yesterday a faithful conductor of the Western political line and the aggressive Russophobic policy of Georgia.
Once Saakashvili was the absolute ruler of Georgia. By one stroke of the pen, he was braking thousands of people's lives. And today in prison he is being dragged by his arms and legs, he himself is trying to resist the guards of law and order.
And what would you think? There are only some third-rate tragicomic characters in defense of Saakashvili.
Former Minister of Foreign Affairs of Poland, today – the MEP Anna Fotyga met in Tbilisi with the leader of the Georgian Party "Droa" and the deputy of the Parliament of Georgia Elene Khoshtaria. Demanding Saakashvili transfer to a private clinic she is on a hunger strike since November 3 in the office of the parliamentary faction of "Lelo - Partnership for Georgia."
By fasting ex-president and Khoshtaria joined by a doctor, the head of the Association of clinics Willie Pachkoriya. He told the media that this form of protest required transferring Saakashvili to a civilian clinic. According to him, he will continue his hunger strike until his demand is satisfied, and Saakashvili .is provided with full medical care. Willy Pachkoria has emphasized that the health condition of the third president is extremely serious.
Georgian doctors working in the United States, too, did not stay aside. They sent an open letter to the US Congress and urge senators and congressmen "do not throw the country, the ally in the South Caucasus and join in saving Mikheil Saakashvili's life." The appeal was signed by about 100 Georgian doctors working in the USA."
Plus, Yulia Tymoshenko's Batkivshchyna party issued a statement in connection with Saakashvili and demanded "to return him to Ukraine."
. "It is obvious from the published video materials, witness accounts and doctors' diagnoses that we are talking about bullying, humiliation of honor and dignity, causing irreparable harm to the health of the imprisoned politician. Human rights activists classify certain actions against Saakashvili as torture!", - in particular, the statement of the Ukrainian political party says. President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky has also joined the chorus of voices in defense of Saakashvili.
However, they are not the interpreter of the legal issues, but only the court. In this case, the European Court of Human Rights, which has already received complaints about the fate of Saaakashvili. And what actions has taken the ECHR?
The ECHR, contrary to expectation, recognized the actions of the Georgian authorities' lawful and fair, and called on Saakashvili himself to put an end to the hunger strike. What a cruel mockery of those who still for some reason trust the West!
Against this background, the Georgian leadership does not forget about economic development. On November 10, the Asian Development Bank (ADB) approved the allocation of a 101-million-euro loan to Georgia. The loan should be used to create a new infrastructure in Georgia and rehabilitate the existing one, as well as to improve services in urban centers.
The loan has been allocated by the Asian Development Bank under the "Investment Project of sustainable urban development." According to preliminary estimates, it should benefit 1.5 million people in Tbilisi and the regions of the country.
The project involves the rehabilitation of city centers, public spaces and parks, the improvement of public transport, the construction of libraries and kindergartens.
The Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development has prepared a new large investment project aimed at creating new resorts and centers of tourist attraction in Georgia. There were discussed up to 40 investment proposals.
By the end of the month the Kutaisi International Airport will connect the train station. The construction of the plant has already been completed, and soon it will begin to take passengers.
The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) has improved the forecast of economic growth of Georgia in 2021 by three percentage points. The international financial institution is expecting this year's economic growth in the country by 7.5 per cent. According to the EBRD experts, the key to Georgia's GDP growth above the level of 2019 is sharply increased economic activity in 2021, At the same time, analysts place a special emphasis on the foreign trade turnover.
The West paying Georgia for the preservation of Euro-Atlantic aspirations in hard cash, involving it in its economic projects. However, too much integration into the Western economy may turn out to be the embrace of a boa constrictor, dragging the country into another economic crisis threatening the West against the background of coronavirus.
