On 7th November 2006 Georgian informational-analytical website apsny.ge published material the content of which we quote fully:
“Peer Chevalier: “Alternative elections in South Ossetia might be considered more legitimate” date 07/11/2006 time: 11:50 source: Georgia Online. The OSCE will not observe the Presidential elections and referendum planned for 12the November 2006 in self-proclaimed Republic of South Ossetia.
This was said by the OSCE Special Envoy during his visit to Tskhinvali.
Peer Chevalier also commented on the Presidential elections planed on 12th November by the alternative Central Election Committee located in Georgian village Eredvi.
-“If we talk about legitimization the alternative elections can be considered more legitimate”, - believes the OSCE representative”.
On this occasion Minister of Foreign Affairs of the RSO Murat Jioev sent a letter to the Ambassador Roy Reeve, Head of the OSCE Mission:
“Your Excellency, taking into consideration that fact that Mr. Peer Chevalier during his visit to Tskhinval his answers to the questions of the South Ossetian journalists contradict the above said and considering the significance of the OSCE position on this issue, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of South Ossetia would like to ask you to explain the situation”.
