International community as well as Russia can not be indifferent to the processes over South Ossetia, stated plenipotentiary representative of the Republic of South Ossetia to Russia Dmitry Medoev. He noted that «eighteen year independent existence of the Republic of South Ossetia and other self-determined States could not be missed by the international community. It is nonsense. The Republic of South Ossetia succeeded as an independent democratic state with all the fasces. The people of the Republic of South Ossetia have determined their future at two referendums. We are building a sovereign independent state. Russia can not remain indifferent to these processes as almost the whole population of South Ossetia is the citizens of Russian Federation». Pertaining to Georgia’s intention to join NATO Dmitry Medoev said that «this circumstance threaten not only South Ossetian citizens, who are also the citizens of Russian Federation, but directly Russia’s national security, Russia’s northern boundaries. RF President’s reaction is an adequate answer to the developed situation».
«South Ossetia today is a factor of national policy and Tbilisi should consider this. Stability in South Ossetia means stability all over the Caucasus. The integration processes between the North and the South of Ossetia are so active that it is high time to talk about the divided nation as of geographical factor»-noted Dmitry Medoev.
