The existing format of Geneva discussions in Transcaucasia is necessary, since for South Ossetia it is important to maintain a dialogue with all the parties and put issues exciting Tskhinval for discussion, Ambassador of the Republic to the Russian Federation Znaur Gassiev told RIA Novosti.

“This format is absolutely necessary, communication is important. We need to raise our questions. I think that over time the mind prevails, after all, this is the most basic document between states that have claims to each other, non-use of force is the key to their good-neighborly relations and further development, «he said in the interview with the agency.

The Ambassador has reminded that recently the 61st round of Geneva discussions in Transcaucasia took place, on which the South Ossetian party again proposed to Georgia to sign the document on the non-use of force.

“To start a dialogue, we must abandon such intentions. Our proposals were not heard for the 61st time, Georgia deviates from its signing, naturally, looking back at its curator. We need to be friends and communicate with all neighbors, but we have a condition – the recognition of our state, reparation, apology, compensation for damage. After that, we are ready to communicate,” he has added.

The Geneva discussions i Transcaucasia is the international forum to ensure predictability, security and stability in the region, as well as maintaining a direct equal dialogue of Abkhazia and South Ossetia with Georgia.

The Discussions opened on October 15, 2008, representatives of Abkhazia, Georgia, South Ossetia, Russia, the United States at the EU, UN and OSCE co -chairs participate in them.
