A commemorative event dedicated to the 20th anniversary of the Beslan terrorist attack will be held in the Russian capital on September 3, the press service of the Moscow Ossetian community reports.

“We invite everyone to honor the memory of the victims of the terrible tragedy and take part in the memorial service in the Church of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary in Kulishki (the Alan farmstead) for those killed. The memorial service will begin at 12:15,” the press service has noted.

At 1:00 p.m., after a minute of silence, a ceremony of laying flowers at the Monument in memory of the victims of the 2004 tragedy will take place, and 334 white balloons will be launched into the sky.

The Beslan tragedy is the unhealed wound in the heart of the Ossetian people.

On the morning of September 1, 2004, during a solemn line-up at school No. 1 in the city of Beslan, North Ossetia, the terrorists took hostages. For three days, the terrorists were holding more than 1,100 hostages in the mined school building – the children, their parents and the school staff. 334 people were killed, 186 of them were children.
