At all stages of the eventful and accomplished history of relations between the peoples of South Ossetia and Russia, their strength has been proven more than once, Ambassador of the Republic of South Ossetia to the Russian Federation Znaur Gassiev, said, speaking at the opening ceremony of a large-scale international project - the Eurasia Campus and the BRICS House in the Obolensky Princes' Estate near Moscow.
The diplomat took part in the event at the invitation of the Rector of the Eurasian International University, President of the BRICS International Club Konstantin Klimenko.
"In accordance with the unwavering course of the Republic of South Ossetia towards comprehensive integration with the Russian Federation, our participation today is significant and undoubtedly expands the horizons of the Republic in the sphere of humanitarian, economic and educational space of the Russian world, of which we are rightfully considered the integral part," Gassiev's press service has quoted him.
According to the Ambassador, after 16 years since the Day of Recognition of its statehood, the Republic of South Ossetia is resolutely ready to participate in all projects that contribute to the implementation of Russia's strategic national priorities and considers it a great honor to be able to participate in creating conditions for achieving its national development goals.
"The invitation to this high-level meeting with the prospect of further fruitful cooperation is a wonderful way to confirm the demand for economic and educational work between our countries and the establishment of new positive contacts that contribute to the mutual enrichment of the neighboring cultures," the diplomat has noted.
He has emphasized that Ossetia has always been a loyal ally of Russia.
"Together, we built a common economic and socio-cultural space.
Dear Konstantin Petrovich, (President of the BRICS International Club), with your active participation, this project is the initiative that is another indicator of the strengthening of the Russian society and an effective tool for striving for research, discovery and understanding of the diversity of the world,” the Ambassador said.
According to him, he is deeply convinced that the opening of the BRICS House will become a powerful incentive for the implementation of a wide range of the most important economic and humanitarian programs on a national and global scale, which in itself will contribute to strengthening Russia's position at the global level.
“We have entered the third millennium and regard Russia's steps as one of the main conditions for the sustainable development of humanity,” Gassiev has concluded.
As part of the friendly event, Znaur Gassiev and Konstantin Klimenko discussed the possibility of further constructive cooperation, including in Tskhinval.
BRICS is actively expanding. Since January 2024, the participating countries, which include Brazil, India, China, South Africa and Russia, have been joined by Ethiopia, Egypt, Iran, Saudi Arabia and the UAE. According to the diplomatic sources, another 28 countries are seeking the membership, including large economies such as Vietnam, Pakistan, Indonesia and Nigeria.
The heads of diplomatic missions of the BRICS countries, representatives of the State Duma, the government of the Russian Federation, as well as the well-known political and public figures were invited to the opening ceremony.
