The II International Medical Conference on the topic "Practical Aspects of Healthcare Development" started in South Ossetia on Monday.

The event brought together heads and representatives of the ministries of health of Russia, South and North Ossetia, Abkhazia, Transnistria, Kabardino-Balkaria and Krasnodar Territory.

The President of the Republic Alan Gagloev and the Health Minister of Russia Mikhail Murashkov addressed the participants of the large-scale event, emphasizing the importance of the medical conference for discussing current issues in the field of health care and exchanging experience.

The Health Minister of South Ossetia Thomas Dzhigkaev has emphasized that the development and strengthening of the domestic health care system is one of the main directions of our state policy.

"The conference is a significant scientific and educational event for our entire medical community, touching upon many current health care issues. The heavy burden of past events has not yet fallen from the shoulders of our citizens. It is no secret that our industry has been experiencing a systemic crisis for quite a long time. Recently, the situation has been changing. But there are many questions about the current system from both the citizens of our country and the medical workers themselves," Dzhigkaev said.

He has expressed confidence that this format of the event will establish itself as a useful platform uniting professionals in the field of medicine, will facilitate the exchange of experience between specialists, expand interaction, and will also serve to improve the health of peoples.

"Let this event become a starting point for new joint projects and strengthening international cooperation in the field of medicine," Dzhigkaev has added.

The Health Minister of Abkhazia Eduard Butba called the opening of the conference the important event for the medicine of South Ossetia, which will allow discussing current problems and prospects for the development of the industry.

"The event will serve to develop and strengthen international ties; will ensure a new level of cooperation for all the countries participating in the conference in the field of medicine. I would like to once again note the fruitful cooperation between Abkhazia, the Russian Federation, and South Ossetia in the field of healthcare," Butba said.

He has emphasized that recently the doctors from South Ossetia consulted and performed surgeries on children with musculoskeletal pathologies in Abkhazia.

First Deputy Chairman of the Government of the Republic Alan Dzhioev has noted that this event is of great importance both in terms of exchanging experience and best practices, and in terms of building horizontal ties.

“The Russian healthcare system has demonstrated its resilience during the COVID period, and is demonstrating it today. The list of types and volumes of free medical care, including the provision of specialized and high-tech medical care, exceeds the corresponding indicators of the vast majority of countries in advanced medicine. The experience of solving emerging problems can be very individual and the exchange of best practices is extremely important for all of us,” Dzhioyev said.

Deputy Health Minister of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic Lia Piontkovskaya also read out a welcoming address of the Health Minister of Pridnestrovie to the medical community.

She has emphasized that today's conference brought together a large number of participants representing practical healthcare from different countries and regions.

"Health issues are key and a priority for any modern state. International conferences and meetings occupy a special place in our interaction; this is an excellent platform for constructive dialogue and exchange of experience. I am sure that through joint efforts we will be able to find answers to many questions of interest, as well as ways to solve urgent problems of health care in our countries," Piontkovskaya said.

The welcoming speech of Rector of the North Ossetian State Medical Academy Oleg Remizov was also read out to the participants of the event.

The welcoming speech emphasized the importance of the conference, expressing confidence that this event will contribute to a productive exchange of experience and an interested discussion of pressing issues, as well as the development of comprehensive approaches to many of them.

"The special significance of today's event is evidenced by the participation of the Health Minister of the Russian Federation Mikhail Murashko in its work. The participants of the current medical conference are faced with important and large-scale tasks. The program of the event presents a wide range of issues of great practical interest to specialists," the welcoming speech reads.

The conference will continue in separate sections on different topics throughout the day.
