Russia will continue to provide assistance to South Ossetia in ensuring security; the decisions of 2008 are not subject to revision. This was stated by Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov, opening negotiations with the South Ossetian Foreign Minister Akhsar Dzhioyev.
"We will continue to assist our friends in ensuring security, in developing the socio-economic and cultural spheres, in other areas of strengthening the state, as stipulated by bilateral agreements. And for us, the only way here is forward. The decisions of 2008 are not subject to revision," the head of Russian diplomacy said.
Lavrov has noted that the Russian Federation and South Ossetia are actively interacting with each other, "a consultation plan for current and future years is being implemented." "We are working closely with our Abkhaz friends," he has added.
The head of the Russian Foreign Ministry added that the intergovernmental commission, which implements plans in the trade and economic sphere, is also implementing the investment program. According to him, this is a very important element in strengthening the foundation of relations between the Russian Federation and South Ossetia.
"Today we have a fairly extensive agenda - these are issues of further promoting our allied interaction in the areas of practical cooperation, and, of course, discussions of humanitarian issues and the international agenda, which is not bypassing anyone these days,"- Lavrov has concluded.
