President Alan Gagloev held a meeting with the head of the Republic's Foreign Ministry Akhsar Dzhioev, during which the Minister informed him about the results of his meeting with his Russian counterpart Sergey Lavrov. This was reported by the presidential press service.
Akhsar Dzhioev conveyed to the president the words of greetings and gratitude from the head of the Russian Foreign Ministry.⠀
"During the talks that took place several days ago, Sergey Lavrov expressed gratitude to the South Ossetian leadership, personally to you, for your principled position regarding the special military operation carried out by the Russian Federation. He noted that this operation is a response to NATO's attempts to turn Ukraine into an instrument for creating threats to the security of the Russian Federation. Sergey Lavrov emphasized that the people of South Ossetia actively support Russian citizens affected by the conflict, and expressed gratitude for the willingness to organize free education for students from the Kursk region,” said Akhsar Dzhioev.⠀
At the same time, the head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has noted that Russia, according to Sergey Lavrov, will continue to provide assistance to South Ossetia in ensuring security and developing the socio-economic and cultural spheres, as stipulated by bilateral agreements.⠀
“During the negotiations held several days ago, Lavrov has emphasized that Russia will continue to provide assistance to South Ossetia in ensuring security, and the decisions taken in 2008 are not subject to revision. He has noted that the country is actively cooperating with South Ossetia, implementing a plan of consultations for the current and future years, expressing hope for further fruitful work within the framework of the existing agreements between the two countries,” he has added.⠀
Alan Gagloev has noted that he was sincerely grateful to Russia for the support it has been providing to the South Ossetian people in this difficult time.
“We are confident that further cooperation between our countries will contribute to strengthening our security and economic development. We look forward to close cooperation within the framework of the existing agreements, which will allow us to effectively solve the problems facing our state,” Alan Gagloev’s press service quotes him as saying.
The meeting of the heads of the foreign policy departments of South Ossetia and Russia has taken place several days earlier in Moscow.
