The Presidential Commissioner for Children's Rights Aelita Dzhioeva met in Moscow with the People's Defender of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela Alfredo Jose Ruiz Angulo. The meeting was held on the eve of the VIII International Scientific and Practical Conference "Problems of Human Rights Protection: Exchange of Best Practices of Ombudsmen", which will be attended by defenders of human and children's rights of South Ossetia.
As reported to IA "Res" by Dzhioeva, during the meeting the parties discussed the issues of further cooperation.
"On behalf of the people of South Ossetia, I expressed gratitude to the Bolivarian Republic, which was one of the first to recognize our independence. During the meeting, I have noted that the agreements on friendship and mutual assistance could be signed between our countries, and my colleague supported this initiative," the Commissioner said.
According to her, the people's defender has noted that the Bolivarian Republic values the right of peoples to self-determination; therefore we will always "recognize the right of the people of South Ossetia to self-determination and maintain contacts in the future."
