South Ossetia will close its borders for the period of parliamentary elections in Georgia. This decision was made during the operational meeting of the Republic's Security Council, held in Tskhinval on Thursday under the chairmanship of President Alan Gagloev.
"In order to ensure the safety of the population of South Ossetia, to exclude possible provocations from the pro-Western and nationalist radical forces of Georgia, a decision was made to suspend the work of the simplified border crossing points "Razdakhan" and "Pereu" in October," the press service of the head of state reported.
Control over the implementation of the decision has been assigned to Secretary of Security Council of the Republic of South Ossetia Anatoly Pliev.
The parliamentary elections in Georgia will be held on October 26, 2024.
