In Tskhinval it has been given the last honours to the fighter from the Alania battalion, Soslan Dzhioev (call sign "DZHIO"), perished in the line of duty during the special military operation.
The Republic's leadership, headed by President Alan Gagloyev, the deputy corps, the Russian Embassy in the Republic, and the deceased's relatives and friends came to bid farewell to the fighter.
His fellow soldiers were at the farewell ceremony, including the soldier who carried Dzhioev off the battlefield.
One of his comrades from the Alania battalion shared his memories of the deceased.
"First of all, thanks to Soslan's parents for raising such a brave son. He fell at the hands of the enemy and it is very difficult for me to speak. My heart is breaking that one of my brothers in arms has died. Everyone in the battalion loved him for his respectful attitude and heroism. Thanks to his comrade who carried Soslan off the battlefield and saved other fighters,” the fighter said.
Many warm words were said about the deceased during the rally.
Soslan was 37 years old and left behind two children. By decree of the President of South Ossetia, Dzhioev was posthumously awarded the “Defender of the Fatherland” medal.
