Four citizens of Georgia have been detained for violation of the state border of South Ossetia

Russian border guards in South Ossetia detained four citizens of Georgia for violation of the state border. It has been reported to IA "Res" at the press service of the Border Control Agency of the FSS of Russia in South Ossetia. "On 22 January 2012, at 13:25, the employees of the Border Control Agency of FSS of Russia, South Ossetia detained three citizens of Georgia near the village Diseu (Tskhinval District of South Ossetia), for making an attempt of illegal crossing of the state border of South Ossetia and Georgia.

CEC has registered the initiative group of Roin Kozaev

The Central Election Committee of South Ossetia has registered the initiative group for nominating the Chairman of the RSO Chamber of Commerce Roin Kozaev as the presidential candidate. As reported to IA "Res" by representative of the CEC of South Ossetia "the action team will be issued a certificate of registration and will be eligible collecting the signatures in support of their candidate".

CEC registered the initiative group of Yuri Dzitstsoity

The Central Election Committee of South Ossetia has registered the initiative group for nominating the Vice-Speaker of the Parliament of South Ossetia Yuri Dzitstsoity as the candidate for the presidency. As reported to IA "Res" by the CEC of South Ossetia, the initiative group was registered on January 20 and is now eligible to begin collecting 1000 signatures in support of its nominated candidate CEC has already registered the initiative groups nominating Deputy Defense Minister Igor Alborov and the former Chairman of the State Committee of Information, Communication and Mass Media of South Ossetia Georgy Kabisov as the presidential candidates. CEC is also considering a package of documents of the initiative group nominating a Chairman for the RSO Chamber of Commerce Roin Kozaev.
The presidential re-election of South Ossetia will be held on March 25, 2012.

Chairman of the Chamber of Commerce has been nominated for the Presidency of South Ossetia

The Central Election Committee of South Ossetia accepted a package of documents from the action group, nominating the Chairman of the RSO Chamber of Commerce Roin Kozaev as the presidential candidate in the upcoming elections on March 25. As reported to IA "Res" by the representative of the CEC of the Republic "these documents will be reviewed within five days, then a decision on registration or refusal of registration the initiative group on nominating Roin Kozaev as the presidential candidate will be made.

The CEC of South Ossetia will complete registration of presidential candidates on February 29

The Central Election Committee of South Ossetia will complete accepting of applications from the initiative groups and political parties for nominating president candidates of South Ossetia on February 9, 2012. As reported to IA "Res" by the CEC of South Ossetia, taking into account the five days that are allotted to the Central Election Committee for considering the documents, registration of the action teams will complete on February 13. "February 19 we will complete accepting the subscription lists from the initiative groups.

Vice-Speaker of the Parliament of South Ossetia has been nominated for the Presidency

The Central Election Committee of South Ossetia accepted a package of documents from a group of citizens, nominating Vice-Speaker of the Parliament of South Ossetia Yuri Dzitstsoity as the presidential candidate in the upcoming elections on March 25. As reported to IA " Res" by the representative of the CEC of the Republic "these documents will be reviewed within five days, then a decision on registration or refusal of registration the initiative group on nominating Yuri Dzitstsoity as the presidential candidate will be made. In case of registration the initiative group will receive a certificate of registration, which will enable it to collect signatures in support of their candidate," Earlier, the CEC of South Ossetia has already registered two initiative groups nominating Deputy Defense Minister Igor Alborov and ex-Chairman of the State Committee of Information, Communication and Mass Media of South Ossetia Kabisov Georgy as the presidential candidates.

Alla Dzhioeva withdrew her signature under the compromise agreement

Ex-presidential candidate of South Ossetia Alla Dzhioeva withdrew her signature under the compromise agreement signed December 9, 2011 on resolving the political crisis in the Republic after the November presidential election. As reported to IA "Res" by Alla Dzhioeva, the letter with notification of withdrawal from the agreement and the requirement to the Acting President Vadim Brovtsev to transfer her power was sent to the presidential administration on January 17.

Representatives of the South Ossetian and Georgian civil society have met in Bethlehem

The tenth meeting of representatives of the South Ossetian and Georgian civil society was being held on January 11-14, 2012 in the town of Bethlehem (Israel) within the framework of social dialogue "Viewpoint." This has been reported to IA "Res" by one of the participants of the meeting, the Chairman of the South Ossetian Women's Association for Democracy and Human Rights Lira Tskhovrebova. According to her, the meetings are conducted by the Faculty of Analysis and Conflict Resolution at the George Mason University since December 2008. "No any political issues are discussed at these meetings; each participant has his own position.

CEC has registered the second action group

The Central Election Committee of South Ossetia has registered the initiative group for nominating a candidate for the presidency Georgy Kabisov. As reported to IA "Res" by the CEC of South Ossetia, the initiative group was registered on January 14 and became eligible to begin collecting 1000 signatures in support of its nominated candidate. It should be noted that Georgy Kabisov (earlier holding a post of the Chairman of the State Committee of Information, Communication and Mass Media of South Ossetia) participated in the presidential elections on November, 13, 2011, but didn`t reach the presidential run-off, gaining 7.5% of the vote.
