In South Ossetia on Wednesday horse racing was held for the prizes of President of the Republic, dedicated to the 32nd anniversary of the adoption of the Act of Declaration of Independence of the Republic of South Ossetia.
The best riders and horses from all over the Republic took part in the sporting event.
15 people applied for the prizes, among them one girl - Daria Obukhova from the Dzau district.
President of South Ossetia Alan Gagloev met with the deputies of the parliament of the first convocation, who adopted the Act of Declaration of Independence of the Republic 32 years ago. Gagloev has noted that the date of May 29 is one of the main public holidays in South Ossetia.
“On this day, 32 years ago, a big step was taken towards the recognition of sovereignty,” Gagloev said, noting that the people of the Republic had gone through a long and difficult path of struggle for freedom and independence.
The Russian Federation, being interested in establishing peace and stability in its immediate border area, taking into account the historical connection with the South Ossetian people and spiritual community, took all possible steps under those conditions to stop the war. The 32nd anniversary of the adoption of the Act of Declaration of Independence of South Ossetia was celebrated in Tskhinval with a ceremonial meeting and a festive concert.
The event was held with the participation of the leadership of the Republic led by President Alan Gagloev, deputies of the Parliament of the first convocation, ex-President Leonid Tibilov, representatives of the Russian Embassy led by Ambassador Marat Kulakhmetov, representatives of departments and the public.
