Georgia is trying to achieve the international discussion of the refugee problem at the UN General Assembly without the participation of South Ossetia and Abkhazia, Vyacheslav Chirikba, director of the Center for Strategic Studies under the President of the Republic of Abkhazia, said during the Moscow-Sukhum-Tskhinval video bridge on the Sputnik-South Ossetia platform.

“We are for all parties - representatives of Abkhazia, South Ossetia, Georgia - to participate in the discussion, but Georgia is against our participation,” he said.

The head of the South Ossetian Parliament Alan Alborov and Chairman of the State Duma Vyacheslav Volodin signed a cooperation agreement in Moscow on Monday, the press service of the Republic of South Ossetia reports.

“We are reaching a new level of cooperation, filling our work with concrete content. This is our contribution to the development of relations between the countries on the part of parliaments; it will give impetus to interaction,” emphasized Vyacheslav Volodin.

From October 8 to 11, Chairman of the Parliament of South Ossetia Alan Alborov will pay an official visit to the Russian Federation. Together with the Speaker of the legislative body, a delegation of deputies, which has included representatives of all the parliamentary factions, has left for Moscow.

According to the press service of the Parliament, during the visit a historic agreement will be signed between the Parliament of South Ossetia and the State Duma of the Russian Federation.

Representatives of Ministry of Internal Affairs of South Ossetia took part in the III International Conference on the problem of the spread of extremist ideology, organized by the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs, the press service of the law enforcement agency reports.

The conference was attended by First Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs - the head of the criminal police, police colonel Erislav Mamiev, and the head of the department of legal support and international cooperation, police colonel Artur Siukaev.

Minister of Foreign Affairs of South Ossetia, Akhsar Dzhioev, sent a note of condolences to Minister of Foreign Affairs and Compatriots of the Syrian Arab Republic, Faisal al-Miqdad, in connection with the terrorist attack in Homs.

“It was with a feeling of deep sorrow that I received the news of the terrorist attack in Homs, where as a result of the attack on the military academy there were casualties, including among the civilians.

South Ossetia, which has repeatedly been subjected to acts of terror by Georgia, strongly condemns this crime,” the note of condolence says.

Over the nine months of 2023, 376 violators were detained at various sections of the state border of South Ossetia. Of these, 156 violated the state border regime, 219 violated the border regime, the press service of the State Security Committee of the Republic reported on Friday.

In the capital of South Ossetia, the events are being held on Wednesday to mark the 15th anniversary of the formation of the Ministry of Emergency Situations.

Chairman of the Government of South Ossetia, Konstantin Dzhussoev, received on Wednesday the delegations of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Russia and Abkhazia, arrived to celebrate the anniversary of the emergency department.

The Prime Minister congratulated the employees of the South Ossetian emergency department on the anniversary of the establishment of the department and his Russian colleagues on their professional holiday - Civil Defense Day.

A delegation of the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations, headed by Deputy Minister Colonel General Ilya Denisov, arrived in South Ossetia to participate in the festive events dedicated to the 15th anniversary of the Republic’s rescue department, the press service of the emergency department reports.

The guests were greeted at the South Ossetian-Russian border according to national customs - with three pies and a cup of beer.
