The methods of the Georgian side frankly do not contribute to the creation of a more positive atmosphere in relations with South Ossetia, President of the Republic of South Ossetia Alan Gagloev said in the interview with Izvestia.

The President has noted that instead of constructive dialogue, the Republic is being addressed with speculative calls to join the European Union with Georgia by 2030.

"South Ossetia has long ago and irrevocably decided on its choice of friends and allies. Our path is the integration with Russia," Gagloev snapped.

The issue of South Ossetia's accession to Russia is currently not on the agenda, the South Ossetian President Alan Gagloev said in the interview with Izvestia.

The head of the Republic has emphasized that the level of integration between Russia and South Ossetia implies a coordinated foreign policy and joint discussion of issues of interest to both parties.

The achieved level of interaction between South Ossetia and Russia in the defense sphere, including the presence of the Russian 4th Guards Military Base on the territory of the Republic of South Ossetia, gives the Republic the opportunity to feel safe. South Ossetia has prospects for recognition of sovereignty in Latin America, in which Venezuela and Nicaragua can assist. This was stated to Izvestia by President of South Ossetia Alan Gagloev on the eve of the Day of Recognition of State Independence, which will be celebrated on August 26.

The sovereignty of South Ossetia has been recognized by the five UN member states, as well as by several republics with the status of partially recognized or unrecognized.
