Oleg Botsiev honored the memory of the warriors perished in the March 1993 offensive operation in Sukhum

Ambassador of South Ossetia to Abkhazia Oleg Botsiev took part in a flower-laying ceremony in the Park of Glory in Sukhum in memory of the warriors perished in the March 1993 offensive operation. This was reported by the press service of Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of South Ossetia.

The commemorative event,was attended by President of Abkhazia Aslan Bzhania, Prime Minister of the country Alexander Ankvab, Speaker of Parliament Lasha Ashuba, Secretary of the RA Security Council Sergei Shamba, and the war veterans.

Representatives of South Ossetia are observing the presidential elections at the polling stations in Moscow

The delegation of the Central Election Commission of South Ossetia is taking part in the Russian presidential elections as observers.

“Today in Russia voting has started for the presidential elections of the Russian Federation, which will take place for 3 days - from March 15 to 17. The Information Center is operating in the CEC of Russia during all election days," Emilia Gagieva, head of the Central Election Commission of South Ossetia, told IA “Res”.

High voter turnout in elections is traditional for South Ossetia - Yuri Bulatov

The high voter turnout in the Russian presidential elections is traditional for South Ossetia, noted Yuri Bulatov, chairman of PEC No. 8360, in a commentary to “Res”.

According to him, from the very morning there has been a high voter turnout at the polling station located in the Tskhinval cultural center (the former building of the Council of Trade Unions).

“People of different ages are coming to take part in the presidential elections in Russia, but people of respected retirement age and civil servants are coming most actively,” Bulatov said.

The Geneva discussions have no alternative as a negotiating platform - Kochiev

The Geneva discussions have practically returned to a normal working rhythm, State Advisor to President of the Republic of South Ossetia, the head of the South Ossetian delegation participating in the discussions, Konstantin Kochiev, said on Friday at the first meeting this year in Tskhinval with the EU, UN and OSCE co-chairs of the Geneva discussions .

He has noted that the discussions have no alternative as a negotiation platform providing direct dialogue between Tskhinval, Tbilisi, Sukhum and Moscow.
