Against the background of the general stabilization of the situation in the Caucasus, recently it has made itself felt the smoldering conflict around Nagorno- Karabakh. Despite the abundance of political actors that are involved in its settlement, only Russia is interested in the effectiveness of the efforts to establish long-term peace. This is explained not only by humanistic, but also by completely pragmatic considerations.

The delegation of South Ossetia held bilateral consultations with the co-chairs of the Geneva discussions at the 41st round of international discussions on security in Transcaucasia.
As reported by the press service by the Presidential Envoy of the RSO for post-conflict settlement, "there were also held tripartite consultations of the delegation of the Republic of South Ossetia with the delegations of the Russian Federation and Abkhazia. The focus of the round is to prepare a legally binding document on the non-use of force by Georgia against South Ossetia and Abkhazia".

The delegation of the Ministry of Defense of the Republic of South Ossetia, headed by acting Defense Minister Lieutenant-General Ibrahim Gasseev, is taking part in solemn events timed to the 25th anniversary of the formation of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Abkhazia.

The genocide of the people of South Ossetia, carried out by the Menshevik government of the so-called Georgian Democratic Republic in 1920, was a logical continuation of the course taken by Georgia in the Middle Ages to destroy South Ossetia not only politically but also as geographically.
