A mourning rally dedicated to the victims of the Eered tragedy will be held in South Ossetia. As Res was informed in the Ministry of Culture, the event will be held on March 18 at 12.00 at the city cemetery.
“The mourning event will be attended by the leadership of South Ossetia, relatives of the victims of the tragedy, and members of the public. Buses will be organized from the Theater Square of Tskhinval for those wishing to take part in the mourning meeting,” the ministry said.
President of South Ossetia Anatoly Bibilov commented on the situation on the border of the Republic with neighboring Georgia against the backdrop of the events in Ukraine and the upcoming NATO exercises.
“We are closely monitoring the situation on the border, there are minor reinforcements of posts, but they do not pose a threat to the security of our state at the moment. In Tskhinval on Thursday, Andrei Bakaev, a native of South Ossetia, perished heroically during a special operation in Ukraine to protect the inhabitants of Donbass, was carried off with military honors.
Sergeant Andrei Bakaev served in one of the units of the 58th Army of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation. Andrei was 35 years old, he had two children. Awarded the Order of Courage of Russia (posthumously).
