Valery Valiev: "We will not allow any destabilization of the situation"

Eduard Kokoity praised the professionalism of Russian border-guards in South Ossetia

Russian border-guards had presented the population in South Ossetia with another holiday in May, RSO president Eduard Kokoity told journalists in Tskhinval. "Russian border-guards arrived in South Ossetia after the 30 April agreement signing and are now settling down. I would like to emphasize the professionalism of Russian border-guards. The first few days of the group which arrived in South Ossetia and their contacts with the population are worth praising," he said.

An ammunition cache found in South Ossetia

On the territory of Vanat village, an ammunition cache was found at approximately 6 p.m., reported the RSO MoD Press-service.
"A reconnaissance team of the RSO MoD found an ammunition cache in a Georgian house near the village school: MON-50 and MON-90 anti-vehicle mines and other large-caliber projectiles", says the press-service report.
"Currently, SO law enforcement investigation crew and deminers are working at the spot".

Eduard Kokoity is receiving the RF Official Delegation headed by the Chairman of Audit Chamber Sergei Sepashin

The President of RSO Eduard Kokoity is receiving the RF official delegation headed by the Chairman of the Audit Chamber Sergey Stepashin. The delegation includes also the Minister for Regional Development Viktor Basargin, the Deputy EMERCOM of the RF Ruslan Tsalikov and other officials. As the RSO President noted in his opening speech, "many construction sites had been already rehabilitated" thanks to joint work of the RF and RSO.
"Your assistance give us hope that the consequences of the Georgian aggression will be eliminated in the nearest future", stressed Kokoity.

South Ossetia and Russia to sign an agreement on joint border-guarding

An agreement between the Russian Federation and South Ossetia on joint guarding of the state border is to be signed, reported the RSO MFA. "The South Ossetian delegation headed by the RSO President will depart for Moscow tomorrow. On 30 April, the signing ceremony of the agreement on joint guarding of state borders will be held within the frames of the Treaty on Friendship and Cooperation between the Russian Federation and the RSO", says the RSO MFA.

Eduard Kookily held a session of the RSO Government Presidium

The RSO President Eduard Kokoity held a session of the Government Presidium in Tskhinval. 16 questions were placed on the agenda, out of which 13 got approved and three other left out for further elaboration. Among the priority issues was that of sequence of projects falling under the program on reconstruction of private housing damaged during Georgia's armed aggression against South Ossetia. Head of RSO Committee for Reconstruction Zurab Kabisov had a floor on this issue.

EMERCOMs of Russia and South Ossetia to sign a memorandum of cooperation on 29 April

The signing of Memorandum of Cooperation between the Emergency Situation Ministries of Russia and South Ossetia will take place on 29 April in Tskhinval, reported the SO Minister for EmergAnatoly Bibilov.
"This is a step towards an agreement to be signed between our ministries. The Memorandum includes provisions related to training of staff for the SO Emergency Ministry, and those related to material and technical assistance to be provided by the Russian side", said Bibilov.

The Georgian side admitted the fact of detention of Russian citizen Valentina Bedoeva

Today, on 28 April, the Georgian side admitted the fact of detention in Goergia a the a citizens of the Russian Federation Valentina Bedoeva. It is noteworthy that on 27 April, the Georgian info-agency “Georgia Online” categorically disclaimed detention of any Russian citizen referring to the words of Head of Georgia’s Interior Ministry Shida Kartli Department V. Jugeli. “Georgian law enforcer did not detain any Ossetian, especially a woman with children”, quoted Georgian-Online V. Jugeli.

Boris Chochiev: “We call on specialists from European structures not to make hasty conclusions”

The Special Representative for Post-Conflict Settlement Boris Chochiev drafted a letter regarding the draft report of the PACE representative Corien Jonker “Humanitarian consequences of war between Georgia and Russia”.
The draft letter states, inter alia:
