"Such atrocities are not subject to oblivion": South Ossetia's Foreign Ministry on the Ered tragedy

The Ered tragedy is one of the many evidences of the policy of genocide that the Georgian leadership had been pursuing against the Ossetian people for a whole century, South Ossetian Foreign Ministry comments.

The Ministry noted that "this bloody and inhumane event, which took place 32 years ago, still shocks with its special cruelty and cynicism, remaining the open wound in the historical memory of the people."

The memory of the innocent victims of the Ered tragedy was commemorated in South Ossetia

A rally in memory of the victims of the Ered tragedy took place on Saturday at the mass grave in the capital's cemetery in South Ossetia.

The rally was attended by representatives of the leadership of South Ossetia, ministries and departments, relatives of the victims of the tragedy, and members of the public.

Opening the rally, director of the National Museum of South Ossetia Merab Zasseev has noted that March 18, 1991 entered the modern history of Ossetia as a bleeding wound inflicted by the Georgian neo-fascists.

Our strategic partner Russia is a great country - State Advisor to the President of South Ossetia

The interstate agreement on alliance and integration between South Ossetia and Russia unites the security spaces of the two countries; therefore armed aggression against the Republic of South Ossetia is tantamount to aggression against the Russian Federation itself. Konstantin Kochiev, State Adviser to President of South Ossetia, stated this in a comment to IA “Res” on the next anniversary of the signing of the bilateral agreement.

He has noted that any attempts by Georgia and its Western partners to isolate South Ossetia are pointless.

Cooperation between South Ossetia and Russia is carried out in all directions - Leonid Tibilov

High-level relations have developed between South Ossetia and Russia, which are observed in all spheres of the life of the Republic, noted ex-President of the Republic Leonid Tibilov in a commentary to IA “Res” on the anniversary of the signing of the Treaty of Alliance and Integration between South Ossetia and the Russian Federation.

The document was signed on March 18, 2015 by the leaders of the two countries, Vladimir Putin and Leonid Tibilov.

Alan Gagloev and Rashid Nurgaliyev discussed the issues of national security

In Moscow President of South Ossetia Alan Gagloev met with Deputy Secretary of the Security Council of the Russian Federation Rashid Nurgaliyev, the press service of the head of the South Ossetian state reports.

"During the meeting, issues of international and national security were discussed. The parties discussed the current situation in Georgia," the press service said.
