Statement of the South Ossetian Republican political party "Unity"

After suffering a collapse in their attempts to seize South Ossetia by military force, Georgia is using the resource of public diplomacy to achieve its goals. Messengers of the new Georgian regime, sent from Tbilisi, are designed to improve the image of their country in the eyes of Russians, shifting the responsibility for the blood of Ossetians and Russians on Saakashvili.

Yesterday in Moscow was held the æmbyrd (meeting) of the action group of the Moscow Ossetians, who had recently spoken against the meeting of members of the leadership of the Moscow Ossetian Community with the Catholicos of Georgia Ilia II.

The dress rehearsal for the concert program of the State Song and Dance Ensemble of the Republic of South Ossetia "Simd" has been held today in Tskhinval. The concert program will be presented in Nicaragua, where the ensemble plans to fly on February 17.

Memorable events in celebration of the anniversary of the Soviet withdrawal from Afghanistan have been arranged in Tskhinval:solemn laying of flowers and wreaths at the Memorial to the Afghan soldiers in the northern part of the town (district of Bam) and at the memorial cemetery chapel in the yard of the school № 5. The ceremony was attended by the leadership of South Ossetia headed by President Leonid Tibilov, Speaker of the Parliament Stanislav Kochiev, representatives of the Russian FSS Border Control Agency, the Fourth Military Base of the RF Defense Ministry, members of the Afghan War Veterans Union, relatives of the fallen Afghans, teachers and pupils of the boarding school in Tskhinval.

Two residents of South Ossetia have been released from Georgian prisons.
As IA "Res" has been informed at the Office of the Plenipotentiary of the President of South Ossetia, "the released are Margiev Omar Georgievich, born in 1981 and Tedeev Georgy Soslanovich, born in 1990."
