On May 8, 2022, Alan Gagloev was elected President of South Ossetia. This happened in the context of an acute political crisis, which was preceded by street actions, a parliamentary crisis and public discontent.

Issues of the missing were discussed on Tuesday during a regular meeting within the framework of the Tripartite Coordination Mechanism, held in the village of Ergnet.

The negotiations were attended by representatives of South Ossetia, the Russian Federation, Georgia, as well as representatives of the International Committee of the Red Cross.

The service will begin at 11:00. Around the same time, commemorative events will begin in the village of Zar in the Tskhinval district. Flowers will be laid at the monument to the victims of the tragedy and a memorial service will be held.

A terrible crime against humanity took place in South Ossetia 31 years ago, the tragedy has remained the unhealed wound in our hearts, President of the Republic Alan Gagloev said on Saturday, speaking at the rally in memory of the victims of the Zar tragedy.

“Our people suffered many losses as a result of the Georgian aggression. We must not forget the tragedy that happened to our people on May 20, 1992. Our duty today is to stand next to each other, improve life in our Republic, create a better future for the younger generation,” the President said.

On the eve of the 31st anniversary of the Zar tragedy, Ambassador of South Ossetia to the Russian Federation Znaur Gassiev addressed the heads of diplomatic missions accredited in Moscow, as well as the Georgian interests section at the Swiss Embassy, the press service of the diplomatic department reports.

Minister of Emergency Situations of South Ossetia, Ibrahim Gasseev, expressed his condolences to the head of the Russian Emergencies Ministry, Alexander Kurenkov, in connection with the tragic death of the sappers of the Center for Special Risk Rescue Operations "Leader". This is reported by the press service of the South Ossetian rescue department.

Two sappers of the Leader Center of the EMERCOM of Russia, Senior Lieutenant Ilya Globa and Lieutenant Oleg Sergienko, were killed on May 18 during mine clearance in the Donetsk People's Republic.

A meeting of the delegations of the defense departments of South Ossetia and the Russian Federation took place in Tskhinval, the press service of the Defense Ministry of the RSO reports.

It was noted here that during the talks various issues of cooperation in the military sphere of mutual interest had been discussed.

"Unified approaches have also been developed to provide advisory assistance to the national army," the press service noted.

Following the meeting,  an agreement was reached to continue the interaction of expert groups in the areas of activiteis.

Three employees of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of South Ossetia won 14 medals at the open power lifting IPL European Championship, the press service of the department reports.

According to the press service, the team of the South Ossetian national team has included the commander of the OMON platoon, police major Azamat Kochiev, senior investigator of the investigative department, police Captain Soslan Kudukhov and police officer of the Tskhinval district police senior lieutenant Levan Gagloev.
