Minister of Foreign Affairs of South Ossetia Dmitry Medoev paid a working visit to Abkhazia, the press service of the Foreign Ministry of the Republic reports.

"The visit took place within the framework of the consultation plan signed with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Abkhazia for 2021-2022," the press service said.

During the visit, a working meeting of the heads of two foreign affairs agencies, Dmitry Medoev and Daura Kove, took place.

A commemorative event dedicated to the International Day of the Missing has been held in the capital of South Ossetia yesterday evening.

The action was attended by Head of State Anatoly Bibilov, Presidential Envoy for Post-conflict Settlement Murat Dzhioev, Commissioner for Human Rights Inal Tasoev, families of the missing citizens of South Ossetia, residents of Tskhinval.

In front of the Church of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary, the participants lit candles in memory of their relatives and friends.

In South Ossetia, 130 families are waiting for information about their loved ones who have gone missing, the ombudsman for human rights under the President of the Republic, Inal Tasoev, told the “Res,” news agency on Monday.

“Most of the citizens we are looking for disappeared during the Georgian aggression in the 90s, in August 2008 - 8 people, a total of 130 residents of South Ossetia,” the Ombudsman said.

According to him, in 2016 and 2021, the remains of two citizens were found - Mairbeg Tedeev and Anatoly Khodov, both were reported missing since August 2008.

The action on the International Day of the Missing - August 30 will be held in Tskhinval, according to the representative office of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) in South Ossetia.

"The event will take place on Monday at 19:30 on the square in front of the Church of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary in Tskhinval, residents of the Republic will be able to light candles in memory of their relatives and friends.

Everyone can join the action and express their solidarity with the families of the missing, "the ICRC mission said.

The third crew of the Ministry of Defense of South Ossetia is at the start of the "Tank Biathlon" competition of the International Army Games 2021 in Alabino near Moscow, the press service of the Defense Ministry of the Republic of South Ossetia reports.

The team from South Ossetia will compete in the individual race at about 13.30.
