Ambassador of South Ossetia to Russia Znaur Gassiev has received with a courtesy visit the newly appointed Ambassador of Abkhazia to Russia Alkhas Kvitsinia, the press service of the Embassy of South Ossetia in Russia reports.

"During the conversation, the heads of diplomatic missions discussed the main areas of cooperation, exchange of views took place on the issues of mutual interest," the press service said.

Znaur Gassiev congratulated Alkhas Kvitsinia on his appointment to a high public position and wished him success in his work.

President of South Ossetia Alan Gagloev has left on a working visit to the Russian Federation, where he will take part in the XXI meeting of the Intergovernmental Commission (IGC) on socio-economic cooperation between the Russian Federation and the Republic of South Ossetia. According to the press service of the head of state, the meeting will be held on February 8 in Moscow.

Among the Ossetians living in Turkey, there are no victims of the earthquake, the head of the Ossetian diaspora in the country, Sadrettin Kusov, told the State Television and Radio Broadcasting Company "Alania".

Western countries are actually freezing negotiations within the framework of international Geneva discussions on security and stability in Transcaucasia, the Russian Federation should take this into account, said Grigory Karasin, head of the Federation Council Committee on International Affairs.
