The ban on pre-election campaigning ahead of the parliamentary elections, which will be held on June 9, has come into force.

According to the electoral legislation of South Ossetia, on June 8 at 00.00 the legal period for election campaigning expired, this applies to television and radio broadcasts, all print media, putting up leaflets and hanging banners, as well as meetings of candidates with voters.

More than 35 international observers will monitor the progress of voting in the parliamentary elections in South Ossetia, Secretary of the Central Election Commission of the Republic Kristina Avlokhova told IA “Res”.

According to her, some delegations are already in the Republic.

“Representatives of Russia, in particular, the State Duma, the Federation Council, the Central Election Commission, the LPR and the DPR will be present at the polling stations on election day,” Avlokhova said.

The work of the analogue of the “Safe City” hardware and software complex in South Ossetia and the assessment of the effectiveness of its work were discussed in Tskhinval by representatives of the Ministries of Internal Affairs of the Republic of South Ossetia and the Russian Federation, the press service of the Republic’s law enforcement agency reported on Friday.

The meeting took place on the basis of the joint information and coordination center of the internal affairs bodies of the Republic of South Ossetia and the Russian Federation.

The South Ossetian delegation led by Prime Minister Konstantin Dzhussoev is taking part in the plenary meeting of the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum with the participation of Russian President Vladimir Putin, the press service of the Republic’s Cabinet reports.

As noted by the government of South Ossetia, the plenary session is of great interest to federal ministers and regional leaders, representatives of domestic business, various government bodies, and foreign entrepreneurs.

Chairman of the Government of South Ossetia Konstantin Dzhussoev and members of the Republic’s delegation within the framework of SPIEF 2024 met with the heads of government authorities of the regions of Russia and got acquainted with the expositions presented at the Forum. In particular, as reported, Konstantin Dzhussoev discussed issues of establishing cooperation with the Governor of the Moscow Region Andrei Vorobyov and the Governor of the Astrakhan Region Igor Babushkin.

A solemn event dedicated to the International Russian Language Day and the 225th anniversary of the poet’s birth was held in Tskhinval, at the monument to the Great Russian writer Alexander Pushkin.

The event brought together representatives of the public, teachers of Russian studies, as well as schoolchildren and students. Excerpts from the poems and fairy tales of the Great poet were being heard, creating an atmosphere of sublimity and inspiration.

Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of South Ossetia Znaur Gassiev has been accepted into the ranks of the Russian Historical Society (RIO), the press service of the diplomatic mission reports.

It was noted here that Gassiev took part in the general meeting of RIO in St. Petersburg at the invitation of the Chairman of the Society, Sergei Naryshkin.

Director of the Foreign Intelligence Service of the Russian Federation Sergei Naryshkin was re-elected to the post of Chairman of the RIO for another three years.
