Eduard Kokoity discussed with power structures the security situation at South Ossetia's borderline

The RSO President Eduard Kokoity held a meeting with power structures' heads to discuss the security situation at the border between South Ossetia and Georgia. As the Yury Tanaev, the RSO Defense Minister stressed, shelling of the territory of South Ossetia from the Georgian side became frequent. "Georgian armed forces are intensifying their presence along the borderline. Movement of armored vehicles closer to our territory has been lately observed", reported Tanaev. He characterized these actions as provocative, aiming at inducing the South Ossetian and Russian armed forces into armed confrontation to impose pressure over the authorities of South Ossetia and the Russian Federation at the international level.

Eduard Kokoity: "The reconstruction plan is being implemented in accordance with the schedule"

The RSO President participated in the opening ceremony at the newly installed power supply line "Tskhinval – Grom". The ceremony was held on 5 August in Tskhinval. RSO Government members attended the ceremony.
"It is the first stage. We are planning to install electric line to Leningor district. Today, the line section connecting the village of Grom has been put into operation. Other lines are to be brought to the condition to ensure power supply for Tskhinval district within a month, to those villages, which were under Georgian occupation", said Eduard Kokoity.

RSO MFA: "There are sound reasons to talk about intentioned aggravation of the situation by Georgia"

The Minister for Foreign Affairs of South Ossetia Murat Djioev sent an official letter to Hansjorg Haber, the Head of the EUMM in Georgia.
As reported the MFA Press-Service, Murat Djioev addressed an appeal to objectively assess the situation evolving in the area of responsibility of the EUMM to use all means available within the EUMM mandate to ensure security of the Republic of South Ossetia and prevent a new escalation of tension in the region.
The RSO Foreign Minister stated that "the received information proved concerns over the probability of Georgia's masterminding a series of steps to destabilize the situation scheduled for the 1st anniversary of Georgia's aggression against South Ossetia in August 2008 and the events dedicated to this tragedy".

The August 2008 events to be discussed at a round-table "South Ossetia: five days in August"

Within the fames of the arrangements and events devoted to the 1st anniversary of tragic 2008 August in South Ossetia, on 7 August a round-table "South Ossetia: five days in August" will be held in Tskhinval, reported the RSO Government Administration. Similar round-tables will take place in Moscow, Vladikavkaz, and Brussels, organized by regional public organization "Vozrozhdenie" (Revival). The round-tables will be connected through a space bridge Tskhinval-Vladikavkaz-Moscow-Brussels (RIA-NOVOSTI).

Appeal of the Republic of South Ossetia to the UN General Secretary, EU Chairmanship, Chairperson-in-Office of OSCE, the Heads of States of the World

In connection with the anniversary of beginning of armed aggression of Georgia against the Republic of South Ossetia in the August of 2008.

In several days it will be the anniversary of the tragic events of the August 2008 when the Republic of South Ossetia exposed to well-placed and unprecedented to its size armed aggression from the Georgian side.

RSO Government session

The RSO President Eduard Kokoity held a session with the members of the RSO Government, heads of governmental agencies and committees to discuss issues related to security, environment, pricing, etc.
The session was opened with the report of the RSO power structures' representatives. It was stressed that from now on the Russian military base contingent deployed on the territory of South Ossetia will be implementing security arrangements in relation to the upcoming 1st anniversary of the Georgian aggression. These measures will include military training on the territory of South Ossetia.

Ossetian village of Ortev came under mortar fire

Another provocation took place at the Georgian'Ossetian borderline. The village of Ortev, Tskhinval region of South Ossetia, came under. At 2205 hrs, on 2 August, three mortart shots were made from the Georgian village of Plavi, 1 km from Ortev, in the area adjacent to the borderline. One of the shells exploded in the outskirts of the village, reported the South Ossetian Ministry for Defense.
"The South Ossetian side did not respond to the provocation and did not open fire", underscored the report.
According to the SO Defense Ministry, no destruction or casualties were reported. "An investigation crew of the RSO law enforcement bodies will arrive on the spot in the morning on 4 August to check the situation on the ground and record the findings", said the report.
This has been the third mortar-shelling trough the last few days.

Russian border-guards did not deploy a checkpoint in the village of Kveshi

The Russian border-guards denounced the information on a check-point deployed in the area of Kveshi village, Gori district of Georgia. As reported by the RF FSB Border-Guard Department in South Ossetia, the Russian side took no actions in the area of Kveshi village.
"The Russian border-guards did not deploy any checkpoints in this area", reads the report of the RF FSB Border-guard Department in South Ossetia.

The RSO Parliament Members are assessing the problems in the borderline areas of South Ossetia

South Ossetian Parliament members are closely following the settlement of the problems faced by the population in borderline areas of the Republic. The Chairman of the Parliament Committee for youth, sports and tourism Kazimir Pliev and the Chairman of the Committee for healthcare and social welfare Alexander Pliev visited Djava district villages. The MPs delivered humanitarian aid to the population in the villages of Sinagur, Tedelet and Djalabet.
"We are doing our best to provide help to residents of the republic. It is crucially important that each and everyone in the republic realizes that he or she is not left alone to face the problems", said Pliev. The South Ossetian MPs had also a meeting with the residents of the village of Sinagur to discuss the the existing problems.

The Republic of South Ossetia took no part in any advance into Georgian territory in Kveshi, and we support the Russian Federation’s denial of this unfounded allegation against its soldiers.
South Ossetians will commemorate the anniversary of Georgia’s brutal attack on our civilians in August of 2008. We aim to do this peacefully and respectfully and then move on to rebuild our country to take care of our people and their needs.
