In South Ossetia, the Indian strain of the coronavirus is mainly circulating, Marina Kochieva, the Republic's chief sanitary doctor, said in an interview with the “Res” news agency.

According to her, in August the South-Ossetian Consumer Supervision Committee sent samples for laboratory tests to the Stavropol Anti-Plague Institute.

“Five samples were rejected, and the remaining 39 samples were found to contain the Indian Delta strain. We assumed so, but now we no longer have an assumption, but laboratory-confirmed information” Kochieva said.

The EU Co-Chair Toivo Klaar proposed the exchange of experience of medical workers in the fight against the pandemic at the Geneva platform. He stated this on Thursday at the meeting of the co-chairs of the Geneva discussions with the President of South Ossetia in Tskhinval.

According to him, "they really want to achieve the maximum result from the negotiations, and focus not only on the formal dialogues, but are ready to make efforts to meet experts in various fields, for example, doctors in the light of the coronavirus pandemic."

"There is the documented information that the three guys were definitely in the hands of the Georgian police. Let them give us at least the remains, so that we can bury them humanly, and relatives can come to their graves," the President said.

South Ossetia has no doubts that the co-chairs of the Geneva discussions on security in Transcaucasia want to do everything possible to keep the border between South Ossetia and Georgia calm. President of the Republic Anatoly Bibilov announced this on Thursday at the meeting with the EU, UN and OSCE co-chairs, who had arrived in Tskhinval to discuss the agenda of the upcoming round in Geneva with their South Ossetian colleagues.

The meeting of the EU, UN and the OSCE co-chairs of the Geneva discussions on security in Transcaucasia with the South Ossetian delegation is underway in Tskhinval on Thursday.

“We are meeting on the eve of the next round of Geneva discussions. We have repeatedly expressed high assessments of the existing international format, emphasizing its importance primarily in terms of strengthening the existing security structure. I would like to note the return of these meetings to a lively format after a rather long period of online conferences.
