The South Ossetian delegation led by Speaker of the Republic’s Parliament, Alan Tadtaev, completed its visit to the Syrian Arab Republic on Friday, the press service of the Parliament told the Res news agency.
A delegation from South Ossetia arrived on an official visit to Damascus on May 24, where it took part in the presidential elections on May 26 as international observers.
The date of May 29 in the recent history of South Ossetia was marked by a number of fateful events. In May 1992, the Act of Declaration of Independence of the Republic of South Ossetia was adopted. And 26 years later, the independence of the State of Alania was recognized by another country - the Syrian Arab Republic.

The Independence Act adopted on May 29, 1992 by the deputies of the first convocation of the Supreme Soviet of our country was an important step on the thorny path of legal registration of the statehood of South Ossetia, proclaiming the creation of an independent state, declaring its territory indivisible, where only the Constitution and laws of the Republic of South Ossetia are in force. On Saturday, 60 seedlings of coniferous trees were planted in the Valery Khubulov Park in Tskhinval, which laid the foundation for the South Ossetian-Syrian Friendship Alley.

“So, on May 28, around 20:00, in the vicinity of the settlement of Grom of Tskhinval district a group of unidentified citizens of Georgia violated the state border and committed vandal actions against the infrastructure of the RSO KGB Border Service - damage was caused to the observation post,” the press service said.
