South Ossetia paid last tributes to the volunteer Fidar Kulumbekov, perished during the special military operation in Ukraine.

The leadership of the Republic, led by Prime Minister Konstantin Dzhussoev, came to see off the hero on his final journey, the press service of the Cabinet of Ministers reported on Wednesday.

Konstantin Dzhussoev expressed condolences to the family and loved ones of the deceased.

By the decree of President of the Republic of South Ossetia, Fidar Kulumbekov was awarded (posthumously) the medal “Defender of the Fatherland”.

The South Ossetian people will always remember their heroes - veterans of the movement for freedom and self-determination, who created and strengthened the statehood of South Ossetia, President Alan Gagloev said, speaking at the parade dedicated to the Republic Day.

The day of September 20, 1990 became a turning point, marking a radical turn in the life of our people - a turn towards freedom and independence, noted President of South Ossetia Alan Gagloev, speaking at the military parade in Tskhinval on Wednesday in honor of the Day of the Proclamation of the Republic.

South Ossetia is proud of its close friendship and alliance with Russia, based on a community of shared values, a common historical past, and a centuries-old military partnership, noted South Ossetian President Alan Gagloev, speaking on Wednesday at the military parade to commemorate the 33rd anniversary of the Republic.

Assessment of the path of formation of the statehood of South Ossetia, which required incredible effort and willpower, dedication and great losses, convinces us of the correctness of the choice made, which allowed the South Ossetian people not only to defend their right to exist in a difficult struggle, but to live with their heads raised, a free people in a free country, feeling themselves to be the rightful master of their destiny and land.
