The 119th meeting within the format of Incident Prevention and Response Mechanisms is being held on the border between South Ossetia and Georgia on Thursday.

The meeting is planned to discuss security issues and statistics on the border violations since the last meeting within the IPRM. The South Ossetian delegation will once again raise the issue of removing the illegal Georgian police post in the village of Uista from the territory of the rRepublic.

A citizen of Georgia, violated the state border of South Ossetia last week, was expelled to the neighboring republic on Tuesday, the press service of the KGB of the Republic of South Ossetia reports.

“On May 8, for violating the regime of the state border of South Ossetia in the vicinity of the settlement of Adzysar, Tskhinval district, officers of the South Ossetian border authorities detained the Georgian citizen Gerkeuli Ivane Giorgievich, born in 1958, resident of the settlement Ahalubani, Gori municipality,” the statement of the press service reads.

Minister of Foreign Affairs of South Ossetia Akhsar Dzhioev sent a congratulatory message to the Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov in connection with his appointment to the post of Minister, the department’s press service reports.

Dzhioev has noted that Lavrov is the experienced diplomat and patriot of Russia, a man of high moral qualities, a firm and consistent supporter of balanced and responsible decisions.

Representatives of the Foundation for Support of the Wounded, who became disabled during the fighting in South Ossetia in the period from 1989 to 2008, made a working visit to the Luhansk People's Republic. The Foundation handed over another batch of humanitarian cargo to the fighters, including food and mineral water.

The head of the organization, Madina Plieva, said that the trip was planned last year, but was postponed due to the unstable situation in the LPR.

The exhibition of the Ossetian artists will be opened in Luxembourg on May 18 as part of the Days of Ossetian Culture in Europe. According to him, the exhibition will be opened on May 18 and will last until June 11.

On Tuesday, South Ossetian President Alan Gagloev held a meeting with the Russian investors and General Director of the Iranian Charitable Association for the Development of Science and Technology Seyed Mahmoud Reza Sajjadi.

The head of state welcomed the guestsm having noted that South Ossetia intends to strengthen relations with friendly countries.

In Tskhinval. the South Ossetian State University and the Armavir State Pedagogical University signed an agreement on interaction and cooperation

The document was signed by rector of the South Ossetian State University Vadim Tedeev and the head of the Armavir Pedagogical University Evgeny Nizhnik.

Evgeniy Nizhnik expressed gratitude to rector of the South Ossetian State University “for the invitation to one of the main universities of the North Caucasus.”

The active participation of the former head of the PMR Foreign Ministry Vladimir Yastrebchak in the development of the South Ossetian-Pridnestrovian relations and in strengthening cooperation between the foreign ministries of the two countries can hardly be overestimated. This was noted by Minister of Foreign Affairs of South Ossetia, Akhsar Dzhioev, in a telegram of condolences to Yastrebchak’s family and friends on the occasion of his death.

Vladimir Yastrebchak died on May 11 at the age of 44.

The State Song and Dance Group of South Ossetia “Simd” performed a solo concert in Luhansk.

The concert was dedicated to the 10th anniversary of the proclamation of the Luhansk People's Republic.

According to Ministry of Culture of South Ossetia, a two-hour program of “Simd” was presented on the stage of the Luhansk Academic Philharmonic.

In April, 26 the violators were detained at various sections of the state border of South Ossetia, of which 17 violated the state border regime, and nine violated the border regime. This was reported by the press service of the State Security Committee of the Republic of South Ossetia.

According to the department, the KGB border service conducted investigations into each fact of violation of legal regimes.
