The XVII International Economic Forum is being held in St. Petersburg

The XVII International Economic Forum is being held this year under the theme "Prospects for the global economy - the time for decisive actions." Republic of South Ossetia at the forum is represented by Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Dmitry Medoev and Minister for Economic Development Zalina Khugati.It is planned a series of events on the top priority topics that will be discussed at the forthcoming summit of G20: stimulating investment to accelerate economic growth, public debt management, the reform of the global financial system, the sustainable development of the energy markets and the strengthening of the world trade.

Security issues in the border areas of South Ossetia and Georgia will be discussed at a meeting in Ergneti

Tomorrow, June 21in the village of Ergneti, at the border of South Ossetia will be held the 35 meeting in the format of Mechanisms for Prevention and Reaction to Incidents (MPRI). As the news agency "Res" was informed at the office of Presidential Envoy for post-conflict settlement, the parties would discuss issues related to security in the areas adjacent to the border of South Ossetia."There will be an overview of the incidents taking place at the border between South Ossetia and Georgia since the last meeting of MPRI May 31.

Russia addresses the needs of the South Caucasus - Russian expert

In addition to the military confrontation with Georgia, South Ossetia is known for its rich history, but in the Russian information space the Republic is often associated with corruption scandals and political upheaval. This opinion was expressed by Director of the Russian Center for Political Science "North-South", the Deputy Dean of the History Department of the Moscow State University Alexey Vlasov, during a meeting with the faculty and students of the South Ossetian State University. In his lecture "Politics in post-Soviet Russia: Current Status and Prospects" Vlasov expressed his vision on Russia`s political relations with the countries of the South Caucasus - Abkhazia, South Ossetia, Azerbaijan, Armenia, and Georgia.

The Russian Humanitarian Resource Center opened in Tskhinval

A meeting of representatives of the Russian Political Studies Center "North-South" and the Moscow State University named after Mikhail Lomonosov, with the teaching staff of the South Ossetian State University named Alexander Tibilov, has been held in the capital of South Ossetia.

Unveiling of a memorial stone to the riot squad members killed in 1992 took place in the capital of South Ossetia

Today, in the south-eastern outskirts of Tskhinval took place the unveiling of a memorial stone to six riot squad members who had been killed defending South Ossetia in 1992. Among them are Zurab Gubaev, Stanislav Gabaraev, Gennady Dzhabiev, Yuri Kozhukhov, Alexander Mikhaylenko and Gregory Sanakoev. The memorial stone was set up by their colleagues - the riot squad members.

By adopting the Georgian resolution the UN General Assembly obstructed the discussion of the problem of refugees at the Geneva talks - Presidential Envoy of South Ossetia

The main goal of the Georgian authorities, who, since 2009 have been submitting the resolution on refugees to the UN General Assembly, is the desire to demonstrate in this paper as if South Ossetia and Abkhazia are the parts of Georgia. This was stated by Presidential Plenipotentiary Envoy of South Ossetia on the post-conflict settlement Murat Dzhioev, commenting on the UN General Assembly`s adoption of the resolution on "The status of internally displaced persons and refugees from Abkhazia, Georgia, and the Tskhinvali region / South Ossetia, Georgia."

The UN General Assembly adopted a new resolution on Abkhazia and South Ossetia

On Thursday the UN General Assembly adopted a submitted by Georgia draft resolution on Abkhazia and South Ossetia, neglecting Russia's appeal not to support it, in order not to harm the Geneva Discussions on Transcaucasia.
62 countries voted for the resolution, against - 16, 84 states abstained. The UN General Assembly resolutions are advisory and have no legal force.

Statement of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of South Ossetia

On submitted by Georgia draft resolution on the status of displaced persons from Abkhazia and South Ossetia to United Nations General Assembly

Since 2009, the Government of Georgia had annually submitted to UN General Assembly its draft resolutions concerning displaced persons and refugees from Abhazia and South Ossetia. This year that annual resolution also is to be submitted to 67th plenary session of the UN General Assembly.
